Background / History

The Yang Family’s revival begins with Yang Shi, whose lineage had been annihilated by the Xiang Family. The Xiangs occupied the Yangs’ former courtyard and Spirit Fields, making the stolen estate the central cause of the family’s blood feud. Yang Shi gradually rebuilt the household through farming, martial cultivation, commerce, and guidance from the Old Ancestor, Yang Genshuo. 18

The family established a material foundation through Spirit Paddy, Spirit Wheat, Spirit Fruits, and the sale of Grain-abstinence Biscuits. Its first major agricultural expansion reached 20 mu of Spirit Fields and produced over 5,000 jin of spirit crops in a single harvest. 36 78

After Yang Fu and Yang Fushuo gained recognition through the Immortal Path Competition, the clan divided its development between two regions. Yang Fu and Yang Fushuo founded the Upper Sect branch in Cloud Concealment Spirit Sect territory, while Yang Shi remained in the Great Nai and Blazing Sun Dynasties with Yang Fuqing and Yang Fujian to develop the Demon Wind Forest. 181

Li Yao gifts the family the Small Merit Tower, a low-grade Treasure Artifact that binds cultivators as family members, grants Merit protection, and improves cultivation speed when bound members perform meritorious deeds. Yang Fu uses it to begin the family’s organized accumulation of Merit. 327

After Yang Genshuo is absent for a century, many fourth- and fifth-generation descendants lose faith in the Ancestor and regard ancestral worship as superstition.
