Background

Chen Changsheng was strengthened by the Original Virus before infiltrating Black Watch. His enhanced mind absorbed extensive biochemical knowledge, while his research and ability to win over military officials made him one of Black Watch's chief scientists. When Black Watch was driven underground following the exposure of Hope Town's nuclear bombing, its research centers were left to fend for themselves. 6

In the Marvel world, he joined Stark Industries' gifted-youth development program and later used Tony Stark's support to rapidly develop Umbrella Corporation. He retained control over the corporation's core technologies, including non-contagious Hunter bioweapons whose evolutionary capacity he deliberately limited. 10 14
