Several more days passed, and the Ninja Alliance, jointly formed by the Five Great Shinobi Villages, had finally taken shape.

The position of supreme commander of the alliance naturally went to Hokage Jiraiya. Konoha's remaining strength was undoubtedly the greatest at present, and the others did not have the confidence to compete for it.

However, Jiraiya was not someone who liked to monopolize power. In order to crush the Akatsuki in one fell swoop, he made full use of every resource and talent, assigning everyone to the positions best suited to them.

The position of General Captain overseeing the Ninja Alliance was given to the Fourth Raikage, Ai. This was also something the Raikage had strongly requested, wanting to make use of his remaining strength and kill a few more enemies.

The position of Chief Strategist went to Ōnoki, the scheming old man. This also demonstrated absolute trust in him; they had not ignored his presence because of his past actions.

The Daimyo Guard was placed under Mei Terumi, the Mizukage. This was out of concern that the Akatsuki might resort to desperate measures and attack the daimyos of the various nations.

Finally, command of the Assault Unit responsible for probing the enemy was entrusted to the still-too-young Gaara.

Further subdivisions included the Intelligence Unit, responsible for receiving and relaying intelligence from all areas; the Infiltration and Reconnaissance Unit, responsible for locating Akatsuki members and the Demonic Statue of the Outer Path; the Medical Logistics Unit, responsible for treating the wounded; the Sensory Unit, responsible for sensing the enemy's location; and the Barrier Squad and Interception Squad, responsible for protecting the Jinchuriki and preventing them from leaving the secret base.
