The speaker was the silver-haired young man standing at the very front of the manta ray: Siliwu, the Big Fish Warlock.
"What I am doing here, what does that have to do with you?" Meriessa sat up from his deck chair and languidly answered Siliwu's question. "Is it strange for me, the person in charge of White Shell Shipping Company, to appear on the sea?"
"Lord Sea God will soon descend upon the waters ahead, Meriessa. I advise you to steer clear. Otherwise, if you offend Lord Sea God, the consequences will not be something your current excuses can smooth over."
Siliwu's tone was flippant, but his expression remained cautious. He did not lower his guard because of the other man's lazy manner. After all, the person before him was Meriessa, known as the "Demon Hunter"—one of the few combat-oriented... True Knowledge wizards in Sky Mechanical City.
"Come to think of it, I have a question." Meriessa rose to his feet and stretched, exposing a broad expanse of dark, muscular chest. "Why not some other waters? Why must it be the sea ahead?"
Siliwu quietly watched Meriessa, waiting for him to continue.
"Looks like I guessed right. That Leviathan that suddenly appeared there is rather intriguing." Meriessa's eyes curved into crescents.
Siliwu still smiled without speaking, though his expression had clearly grown several degrees colder.
Meriessa continued, "At first, I did not think there was anything wrong with Leviathan being there. I merely used Lucky Detection, which I had not practiced for years, to ask a yes-or-no question. You know, I am not a prophecy wizard. Even though I learned a few prophecy tricks, they often fail. Whether Lucky Detection answered 'yes' or 'no,' I would not have cared much. But this time... Lucky Detection's answer was: unable to detect."
