Not long after.
The landing zone on the surface of Shield World.
"Hiss!!!"
"Roar~!!"
"Ugh...!"
The area was still filled with all kinds of Alien roars, along with the Flood's disgusting wails, which sounded like ghosts muttering mournfully.
At the area where the disposable drop pods had landed, the vast majority of the Flood and living roots had already been wiped out by the various Alien forms.
However, the Aliens had also suffered enormous losses.
At least tens of thousands of worker bees and Messenger Aliens lay dead across the surface of the area, interspersed with many powerful Aliens in Beast Form.
Although the Aliens were formidable fighters, the Flood's various Combat Forms were not weak either. The enormous 'Tank' Flood, for example, had no trouble dealing with more than a dozen worker bees at once.
The fewer Aliens in Beast Form could barely contend with Tank Flood, and only the Alien Praetorian could completely overwhelm such behemoths.
Not to mention that the Flood possessed an endless sea of Infection Forms, enough to make any form of Alien 'pay dearly'.
Moreover, the Gravemind now knew that the Aliens' most reliable weapon against the Flood was the Corrosive Acid in their blood.
Once the Gravemind understood and learned about a species' abilities, a countermeasure would naturally follow.
The various Combat Body Flood no longer attacked recklessly. Instead, they paid the price of sacrificing their whip-like arms to aim fierce strikes at the Aliens' heads.
Even if the Combat Bodies' arms were corroded away by the Corrosive Acid, Combat Bodies that had lost both arms could still 'splice' themselves together into larger Tank forms.
The Aliens, on the other hand...
No matter how powerful they were, they could not escape the limits of biology. Once their heads were completely destroyed, they died.
