Bavent Attack

After the deaths of the twins Pan and Peng, the Bavents seemed to have quieted down considerably. Or perhaps they had given up on Karakura Town and Ishida, and left.

For two whole days, Ichigo and the others failed to see any Bavents come out to feed, and Ishida had not been attacked either.

After school, in the empty classroom, Ichigo hoisted his shoulder bag and turned to Renji, who was sitting on someone else's desk. "It was me yesterday, so it's Renji's turn today, right?"

Renji braced both hands behind his waist, his right leg resting on the desk, and nodded slightly. "Yeah. Leave it to me."

Ishida opened his mouth, then hesitated.

Rukia frowned, looking uneasy. "This is strange. It's already been two days, yet there hasn't been the slightest sign of activity."

Ichigo said, "Could they have broken down?"

The moment he finished speaking, Ririn unzipped the shoulder bag slung over his back and poked out, then smacked him twice on the head.

"You're the one who's broken! Idiot!"

Kuroudo, appearing as a rabbit-shaped waist pouch hanging from Inoue's waist, also spoke up. "I haven't sensed any Bavent aura either."

Ziba, sitting on Chad's shoulder, said, "Me neither."

"What's going on?" Renji scratched his head. "Could they have already left Karakura Town?"

Kon jumped onto the desk, looking smug. "They must have sensed the presence of yours truly and fled in disgrace."

Rukia ignored Kon's antics. She looked at Ishida, then shook her head. "That seems unlikely. There's probably some other scheme at work."

Chizuru offered her opinion. "Whatever the case, we can't let our guard down."

Although Chizuru had not joined them, she already knew about the Bavents and cared quite a bit about everyone. From time to time, she offered her opinions and advice.
