Yuko stared with her lips slightly parted, her eyes dull and vacant.

The commotion of Rangiku tumbling down the stairs completely dispelled her sleepiness. She stared at the doorway in astonishment. "What was that noise just now?"

Yuko silently rose and went to the balcony. She saw Isshin Kurosaki dash out the door and scamper all the way back home.

Only then did she turn around, stretch, and enter the living room. "Who knows? Probably some cat or dog or something."

"...Why does the voice from earlier sound kind of familiar?" Rangiku was much more awake now. She pressed a hand to her head and frowned. "I feel like I've heard it somewhere before."

Yuko gave her a dead-fish stare, utterly speechless.

So that was it. Judging by the looks of things, it was someone she knew from Soul Society. No wonder that guy had shouted and then fled on all fours. Maybe he owed her money from back then and thought she had come knocking to collect.

Although Yuko had no intention of deliberately covering for Isshin Kurosaki, she also had no plans to expose him outright. She spoke casually.

"Don't worry about it."

"Mm..." Rangiku nodded. Then her body suddenly stiffened. She raised her head and looked around in confusion. "Where is this?"

At last, her gaze stopped on Yuko's red hair.

"You—you're...!" Rangiku's eyes widened slightly. She pointed at Yuko with one trembling hand, stammering.

Yuko's eyelids twitched. She really wanted to say:

Where did all that easy familiarity from last night go?
