Nemu Kurotsuchi pried the half-dead Mayuri Kurotsuchi out of the wall and helped him back.
Yuko stepped forward and studied Mayuri's face for two seconds before clicking her tongue. "He took a perfectly good face and turned himself into a Pharaoh. That's a worse drop in aesthetic standards than anything in the Human World."
Nemu's brow furrowed slightly.
Yuko turned to her. "Ne... Nemu, right? Sorry for the trouble, but when this guy wakes up, tell him I'll come find him about my three conditions the next time I'm in Soul Society."
Yuko didn't know much about Nemu. She knew Nemu belonged to the Female Shinigami Association... Well, that was hardly surprising. Practically every female Soul Reaper of any standing in the Seireitei belonged to it.
She also knew Nemu was the 12th Division's Vice-Captain.
But Yuko's Clarity Vision had revealed Nemu's inhuman construction.
Rather than an ordinary Soul Reaper, Nemu seemed more like a Modified Soul or a Gigai.
Coupled with Nemu's expressionless face, Yuko suspected she was an artificial person Mayuri had created through science.
Yes, that was almost certainly it.
Their technology was incredible, far ahead of the Human World, yet the residents' overall standard of living was worse than it had been in the seventies or eighties. Outside the Seireitei, things were barely better than in the Sengoku Era. How ridiculous was that?
Yuko could tell who was responsible: those bloodsucking aristocrats.
Nemu gave a slight, expressionless nod. "Yes, Captain Tsugikuni. I'll relay your message to Lord Mayuri exactly as you've said it."
Yuko waved, turned, and walked toward the other captains nearby.
"Congratulations, Yuko... No, I suppose I should call you Captain Tsugikuni now." Shunsui Kyoraku was the first to approach. He tipped his conical hat, wearing his usual lazy smile.
Yuko rolled her neck.
