"Exactly! Who told you to bring me along?!"
Yoruichi launched a cat attack, her sharp claws raking Yuko's hair into a tangled mess in seconds.
"Are you lashing out because you're embarrassed?" Yuko lifted her off her head, tossed her aside, and smoothed down her disheveled hair.
Yoruichi landed on all fours and rolled her eyes. "Who'd get mad at an idiot?"
Yuko opened her mouth to reply, but Uryu and the others came out after hearing them argue. Seeing Yuko in the Fifth Division's Captain's Haori, they asked curiously:
"Teacher, that spiritual pressure from the 1st Division just now... Wasn't it Mayuri Kurotsuchi's?"
Ichigo gave her a speechless look. "We thought you'd just show up for the appointment ceremony, get it stamped, and come back. But half of Seireitei seemed to shake. Don't tell me you got into another fight?"
Uryu adjusted his glasses. "That spiritual pressure vanished so abruptly, it was like someone erased it in an instant. Teacher Yuko, you didn't cripple him, did you?"
Yuko dusted off her clothes. "Captain Kurotsuchi thought the ceremony was too boring and insisted on performing a trick where he went headfirst into a wall. As his newly appointed colleague, I merely stuck out a foot to help."
"..."
Yoruichi licked her paw. "He started it, didn't he?"
It went without saying that the problem was that freak Mayuri Kurotsuchi.
"Oh, right, Yoruichi, have Urahara... Wait, do you guys know what Mayuri Kurotsuchi looks like?"
Only then did Yuko remember that Mayuri Kurotsuchi was the one Urahara had made an exception to get out of Maggot's Nest around the time she took over as its warden.
Yoruichi tilted her head. "Of course. Why?"
"..."
Yoruichi caught on. "Ohh, you knocked his disguise off?"
"...That's no fun. You aren't surprised at all."
