Kyoraku looked amused. "Oh, Old Man Yama would be delighted to hear that."
Without changing her expression, Yuko drove an elbow into his side.
"Ahem!" The blow nearly doubled Shunsui Kyoraku over. He hurriedly greeted Yoruichi to cover his embarrassment. "Oh, Yoruichi! It's reassuring to have you here too."
Yoruichi planted a hand on her hip, her expression flat. "I can't say I'm happy to see you."
"That's awfully harsh~"
Shunsui Kyoraku lowered his head, looking crestfallen.
Then he suddenly jerked it back up. "Right! Old Man Yama's missing!"
"You're only telling us now?!" Yuko couldn't help blurting out.
"Because the old man probably isn't dead." Kyoraku scratched his head, still sounding as casual as ever. "You know what Muramasa can do. He can control a Soul Reaper's Zanpakuto. My guess is Old Man Yama shut himself off to keep his Zanpakuto from being taken."
Kyoraku hadn't taken part in the mission to seal Koga Kuchiki, but after Koga escaped his prison and killed a great many Soul Reapers, word of his methods and how to counter them had reached Kyoraku.
Kyoraku quickly followed up, "Speaking of which, how's your Zanpakuto? Can you communicate with it normally?"
He looked a little tense. Even a veteran like him didn't want their strongest fighter to lose one of her weapons in a situation like this.
Yuko stared blankly. "Great. Actually, communication went so smoothly I could almost cry."
If that white-haired woman had shown even the slightest hesitation about eating people, Yuko wouldn't be so miserable right now.
