Side Story: Heaven's Abandonment

The grandfather and grandson sat waiting in the backyard.

Old Man Han looked at his grandson and said with a smile, "Go play at Er Niu's house. Grandpa can keep watch here."

"Grandpa, then I'm going?"

Han Feng wanted to go out and play as well. Waiting here for Physician Qian to finish might take an hour.

"Go on."

Old Man Han smiled and waved his hand.

Han Feng ran out of the clinic and headed toward Er Niu's home along a familiar route.

Er Niu had been Han Feng's childhood playmate. She had originally lived in the back village with her grandmother.

However, Er Niu's parents had done well for themselves. After earning some money, they built a new house in the front village, so Er Niu now lived with her parents.

Although he and Er Niu had been separated, Han Feng often took the chance to visit her whenever he came to the front village with his grandfather.

Knock, knock, knock!

Han Feng knocked on Er Niu's door.

"Er Niu, Er Niu, it's Han Feng!"

Before long, the door opened.

Er Niu's round little face peeked through the crack in the door.

"Han Feng, my dad is home today. He won't let me go out to play."

"I see. All right, then."

Er Niu looked pitifully at Han Feng. She wanted to run wild with him too, rolling about and catching shrimp by the stream.

But Er Niu's father was a strict man and had begun paying close attention to her studies and cultivation.

She had not finished reciting the text she studied yesterday, so she was still being punished by having to stand today.

"Han Feng, did you go sell medicine at the clinic with Grandpa Han again today?"
