Background / History

Zhou Qingqing was born on Mount Buzhou as a twenty-four-petal Creation Azure Lotus rather than being divided among the Three Pure Ones. Supreme Pure Laozi named her surname “Zhou” by removing the “not” from Buzhou, while Jade Pure Yuanshi chose “Qing” from her azure-lotus true form. She entered the Three Pure Ones’ lineage as their first disciple. 10 24

Her value became public during the conflict over the Innate Gourd Vine. At Yuanshi’s instruction, Qingqing circulated the Jade Pure Golden Casket Artifact Refining Record, transformed into her lotus form, and—with Yuanshi’s mana—blocked Eastern Emperor Taiyi’s Chaos Bell. 24

After taking human form, Qingqing remained much smaller than she expected and initially resented her chibi appearance. She ultimately accepted it, choosing to gather more Chaos Green Lotus components and cultivate instead of dwelling on her height. 121

As her cultivation increased, Qingqing became the senior figure responsible for a growing Daoist cohort.
