As a child, Li Xuanfeng is deeply affected by Old Man Xu's account of Xu San, a man paralysed by fear after witnessing atrocity. After Old Man Xu dies, Xuanfeng mourns him and comes to understand the cruelty of vengeance and survival 64 65. He develops an early hatred of Tang Gold Gate after learning of its role in massacres, swearing to one day destroy it 74.

He seeks a breakthrough to the Jade Capital Wheel with a Snake Essence Pill, then enters seclusion to cultivate the Golden Radiance Righteous Edge Art for his Qi Refining breakthrough 94 110.
