Another head was cut off, and Su Kuo immediately lost the Exotic Power he had been absorbing.
But he was fierce and valiant as well. The moment the blade came down, he knew that head could not be saved, so he ignored it. Half-turning his body, he swung the spear shaft at the spirit phase's head.
With a bang, golden light burst from the impact. Yet with its powerful Spiritual Fire and immense strength, the spirit phase took the blow head-on and merely swayed slightly.
The spirit phase flicked up its long blade, knocking aside the ring weapon that came chopping after it. With its other hand, it grabbed the Long Jian embedded in the ground, retreated a step to avoid the thrusting spear, and raised the Long Jian to block. Then it stepped forward, sweeping its blade upward in a reverse slash.
Su Kuo hurriedly raised the ring weapon to block, but that movement exposed an opening above him. Chen Chuan's spirit phase pressed forward and, taking advantage of the moment, swung the Long Jian up. With a bang, Su Kuo's shoulder exploded, flames scattering in all directions as another arm snapped off at the root. Su Kuo himself was knocked several steps sideways.
Chen Chuan's style relied on overpowering his opponent with sheer strength. If they did not defend with everything they had, one strike would scatter their moves and leave them full of openings. But if they defended with all their might, he would use the opportunity to strike at their weak points.
In spirit phase combat, because of the enormous size involved, this style of alternating weight and speed, combining feints with solid attacks, required a high degree of coordination and precise control. Without the overlap of his Second Self, it would not have been so
