Background / History

During the Battle of Holy Light Fortress, the Behemoth fought the Bloody Hoof Camp's Giant Gray Lion, Iron Mountain. It overwhelmingly subdued Iron Mountain until iron-armored Wasteland Brutal Bears tore at the gaps in its scales, allowing Iron Mountain to retaliate and the bears to pin its limbs. The Behemoth was left unable to stand and was captured after the battle. 259 260

Ist later kept the creature under control, though not without harsh discipline. After it destroyed dozens of trees while being ordered to transport water, Ist whipped and starved it. Its injuries from Holy Light Fortress began healing, with its torn scales regrowing. 600

Johnny attempted to make the Behemoth his battle companion. The creature initially treated him playfully, but later attacked him in a berserk outburst, severely injuring him. Its response was driven by its pride: it regarded becoming a guardian beast or battle pet as enslavement. 600 601

A colossal, black-scaled Fierce Beast regarded as the king of land warfare, with a size comparable to city walls. 259

Personality

The Behemoth is innately ferocious, highly intelligent, and extremely proud. It fears Ist's overwhelming presence, but does not submit willingly to lesser beings. 601

It resents being treated as property or a combat pet. Johnny's attempt to protect and bond with it was interpreted as humiliation, provoking its sudden attack. 601

Overwhelming Physical Strength

The Behemoth is a close-combat monster capable of dominating other giant beasts.

• Pinned down and brutally beat Iron Mountain, an evolved Giant Gray Lion, during their duel. 259

Extreme Durability and Recovery

Its hide and scales provide substantial protection, while its body recovers rapidly from serious injury.

Intelligence and Feral Pride

The Behemoth understands domination and reacts violently to perceived enslavement.

• Johnny — Aspiring master and intended battle companion. Johnny persists in trying to bond with it, but the Behemoth later mauls him after taking offense at the prospect of enslavement. 600 601
