Marvel's Superman Gets Two Big Slaps Too. As one of the most powerful Eternals, Ikaris had not fought in a very long time. Although there were many powerful beings on this planet, none of them were worth his notice.
This was the immense confidence he had built over thousands of years of fighting on Earth, joining the other Eternals in relentlessly hunting Deviants.
"That's right. Though they look somewhat strange, they should be Deviants."
Having raced over at top speed after receiving word from his lover Sersi, Ikaris used his super vision to observe the Xenomorphs. Hesitation showed on his face, but he soon accepted it—perhaps these things were a new breed of Deviants.
After all, Deviants possessed powerful mutagenic genes by nature. They could also undergo physical changes based on the power of the strong creatures they absorbed.
Still, apart from the one feeding inside the building, the Deviants before him seemed generally pitifully weak.
He looked into the building again, staring at Abomination, who had long since become a lump of mangled flesh. He could not tell how Abomination had died from that utterly disgusting mess, but that did not matter.
"This Deviant evolved by taking the life energy of that ugly creature, but what kind of terrible feeding method is this?"
Ikaris's expression was grim.
Growing stronger by absorbing other creatures was indeed a Deviant's innate ability, but that absorption was not accomplished by eating raw flesh. They were supposed to pierce their targets with flesh tubes and absorb their energy.
What kind of bizarre abilities had these Deviants evolved? How had they actually regressed?
Even stranger, the surviving Deviants should have been frozen beneath an icy lake in Alaska. How had several of them suddenly appeared...
And so openly at that.
"Why are you associating with these Deviants? Do you know how dangerous these things are?" Ikaris crossed his arms, his voice cold as he looked down at Duva.
"Deviants? You've got the wrong idea." Duva knew why this guy had come.
Ikaris was also a man with hidden motives. He had concealed from the other ten Eternals that the last group of Deviants was hiding in Alaska.
These eleven Eternals were completely different from Thanos's ancestors—the Eternals who had migrated from Earth to Titan and reproduced on their own. They had been directly created by the Celestials, professional enforcers whose memories had been repeatedly wiped clean.
Every time they completed a mission—protecting a species until it flourished and accelerating the birth of the infant Celestial within a planet's core—the Celestials would erase their memories and send them to another life-bearing planet, repeating the cycle over and over.
But there were exceptions. Occasionally, strange fragmented thoughts surfaced in the minds of certain Eternals. Those were memory fragments that had not been fully erased.
Ikaris had vaguely sensed that something was wrong with his memories, but wisely chose not to reveal it.
"Earth's ecological environment could not possibly produce creatures with appearances like these. They are not native to Earth." Ikaris said coldly. "You have no idea what Deviants are, and you lack the proper reverence for me, the one who protected you and your ancestors."
"Reverence my ass. Bullshit."
Duva's tone was mild. He knew all too well that Ikaris was powerful and obsessive. Since he had shown up, he would not leave without accomplishing his goal, so Duva simply said, "You keep going on about Deviants. But tell me, what's on your mind more: protecting ordinary humans, or covering up information?"
Ikaris's expression shifted slightly. It was not entirely because of Duva's insult. More than that... this human seemed to know about the Eternals and Deviants, and even knew he had concealed secret information related to the Deviants? Was it a coincidence, or a deliberate probe?
Golden light instantly flared in Ikaris's eyes as he fired a blast of Heat Vision. It was clear that this attack could utterly erase an ordinary human.
But at that moment, the Abomination Xenomorph, whose body had expanded by a full circle in an extremely short time, finished feeding. With its mouth full of sharp teeth bared, it effortlessly smashed through the wall and burst out. In a flash, it grabbed Ikaris in a bear hug, spun around, and slammed him down.
Boom!
The unrestrained force smashed a huge crater into the ground.
"Is this how you protect humanity? You act without any restraint. To eliminate these so-called Deviants, you'd kill even humans whose identities you don't know?" Duva, completely shielded behind the Abomination Xenomorph, spoke slowly.
"You're not ignorant. You know we protect humans, and you know we exterminate Deviants. Who are you? Why do you know these things?!"
Ikaris flew up without a scratch. He was surprised by the Xenomorph's strength, but after that exchange, he had already assessed its power. It was far weaker than him.
He could kill it. He only needed a little time.
What concerned him more was the composure and calm Duva displayed. He had not even blinked, as though he understood Ikaris's methods perfectly and had long prepared himself for them.
There was something wrong with this human—something seriously wrong. He was even being protected by Deviants, which completely overturned Ikaris's understanding. Deviants were a species that specifically devoured humans.
But whatever the problem was, it meant nothing before absolute power. Ikaris only wanted to kill Duva and these "Deviants" as quickly as possible, concealing the information as thoroughly as he could.
Boom! Ikaris shot forward like a cannonball, ramming into the Abomination Xenomorph's chest. Duva deftly sidestepped, and Ikaris crashed through several buildings in one go. Countless shockwaves thundered into the sky. Clearly, the destruction caused by his attack was even worse than the damage from Abomination's battle with Hulk.
Other Eternals might pay attention to protecting innocents, but he did not care.
Over thousands of years of fighting, they had more than once battled Deviants in crowded city streets, right in front of ordinary humans.
Ikaris in particular believed he had rendered tremendous service to humanity, protecting countless humans so they could reproduce normally. So what if a few people got caught up in a fight? What was the problem?
Ikaris clenched his fists, puffing out his powerful chest as he coldly watched the towering inferno suddenly erupt from the enormous hole in the high-rise before him.
Someone's gas tank had exploded.
But it did not matter.
The Abomination Xenomorph did not care either.
It emerged without a scratch as well. Without saying a word, it whipped its long, sharp, agile tail. Its legs, gathering terrifying power, swelled with muscle in an instant as horrifying strength erupted.
The Abomination Xenomorph nearly rammed back in the same manner, sending Ikaris flying with a headbutt and kicking up endless rubble and screams.
"Why is there another monster?! Didn't the fight on Broadway just end?!"
"No, no... what's happening today? Two even crazier guys have appeared!"
At first, some civilians thought Ikaris was a superhero, while the Abomination Xenomorph, whose build somewhat resembled Abomination and Hulk, was the villain.
But seconds later, they realized that neither of these bastards was any good. Neither one cared whether they lived or died!
The only difference was that the more human-looking one had absolutely no regard for ordinary people when he fought. Every strike targeted vital points, as though he wanted to crush his enemy to death with a single punch.
As for the one that looked like an Abomination Xenomorph, although it was equally ugly and vicious, with exaggerated muscles and strange bone spurs all over its body, perhaps it wanted to fight somewhere else. It kept grabbing Ikaris with its huge hands and hurling him toward more distant, deserted areas.
Even though Ikaris would knock it back the next second, and it would occasionally crush an unlucky civilian to death.
