Background / History
The Prime Universe, designated Universe 0, is the core of the DC multiverse and the key universe of its world. It possesses the most complete rules, the largest galaxies, and the greatest concentration of gods, heroes, and major villains. Threats that could destabilize other universes may be swiftly eliminated here by stronger native forces. 230
Following the end of the Xenomorph War and the death of New 52 Darkseid, Universe 0 regained its proper position. This also marked the preliminary end of the Flashpoint Event's negative effects upon it. 230
Before Duva's direct intervention, Xenomorphs already existed on the Prime Universe's Earth as quiet, low-population predators. They hunted wild animals in remote areas, did not openly multiply, and became dangerous mainly to those who attempted to study or provoke them. 230 231
Significance
- The Prime Universe's natives generally surpass their counterparts from Parallel Universes in strength and potential, allowing equivalent actions to create much larger-scale consequences. 281 288
- Gods with ambitions toward the multiverse commonly establish plans and representatives within the Prime Universe, granting those representatives greater power than counterparts in other universes. 283
- Its uniqueness could allow Duva to radiate his influence into further universes and synchronize his DC and Marvel aspects, providing a route toward a Multiversal Position. 230
- The universe is repeatedly described as both exceptionally chaotic and, under Xenomorph dominance, unusually ordered. 256
Xenomorph Crisis
Third Legion Incursion
The Guardians of the Universe targeted the Prime Universe's native Xenomorphs as potential soldiers for a Third Legion. They regarded the species' stable emotions, rationality, hierarchy, and capacity to inherit a host's maximum potential as traits superior even to those of the Green Lantern Corps. 230 232
Using Volthoom's blue blood and the Emotional Spectrum, the Guardians captured and modified Xenomorphs on a large scale. They intended to sever the Xenomorph God's connection to them, place themselves at the top of the species' hierarchy, and use Volthoom to cultivate a Prime Universe-specific Xenomorph God. 232
The altered silver Xenomorphs could transform humans through contact, creating new soldiers at an exponential rate. The Guardians expected the Third Legion to convert every life-form in the Prime Universe within two months. 233
Duva's Intervention
Duva's Xenomorphs disputed the Guardians' claim to ownership, declaring that every Xenomorph in the multiverse ultimately belonged to the Xenomorph God. Xenomorph forces from other universes, including parasitized variants of Superman and other heroes, arrived to confront the Prime Universe's defenders. 233
Duva's growing influence made the Prime Universe a central front in his multiversal expansion. His forces repeatedly converted combatants, turned former allies against one another, and brought powerful Xenomorphs into the universe to fight its heroes. 243 253 285
By the time Duva openly extended his influence toward it, the Prime Universe was depicted as lying directly in the grasp of a vast multiversal shadow: vulnerable to the Xenomorph God's pressure despite its status as the multiverse's core. 283
Relationships
- Duva / Xenomorph God — Invaded and transformed the Prime Universe into a major component of his Xenomorph empire; he uses its unique status in his multiversal plans. 230 283 300
- Guardians of the Universe — Attempted to seize native Xenomorphs, modify them with Volthoom's power, and establish the Third Legion. 232 233
- Volthoom — His extracted blue blood was used to alter Xenomorphs; the Guardians also intended him to serve as a vessel for a new Prime Universe Xenomorph God. 232
- Justice League — One of the principal groups resisting Xenomorph expansion and the altered Third Legion on Prime Earth. 233 243
- Perpetua — Viewed the Prime Universe's Earthlings and Martians as materials for creating Apex Predators while competing against Duva's expanding Xenomorph influence. 358 362
- Starro — Entered the Prime Universe despite the danger of a parasitic god entering another parasitic god's territory. 256
Trivia
- The Prime Universe's Xenomorph history appears contradictory: long-standing records describe a small, unobtrusive Earth species, while the Darkhold records a multiversal Xenomorph God whose forces conquered other universes. 230
- Prime Universe Batman initially considered the local Xenomorphs too quiet and low-profile to warrant focused attention, until their unified movement revealed a larger threat. 231
