Background / History
Odin judged Thor arrogant, conquest-driven, and unfit to become king. To teach him compassion, humility, and protectiveness, Odin stripped him of divine power, exiled him to Earth, and enchanted Mjolnir so it would recognize only a worthy wielder. 91
On Earth, Thor initially remained proud and insisted on reclaiming Mjolnir, but could not lift it. He admitted to Sif and the Warriors Three that he was no longer the Thor he had been and believed the hammer had accepted a Midgardian instead. 94 95 When Loki sent the Destroyer Armor to eliminate him, Thor chose to remain behind so Jane Foster, Sif, and the Warriors Three could escape. His willingness to die for them restored his divine power. 96 97
Thor later returned to Earth to pursue Loki and the Cosmic Cube, partly intending to investigate the White-Clothed Hero whom he suspected might be another Asgardian—or even his brother. He clashed with Iron Man and Captain America over Loki's custody before joining discussions concerning the Chitauri invasion. 164 166 171
After learning from Su Yao that true godhood could be reached through Rune power and awakened Godly Power, Thor reported the encounter to Odin, Frigga, and Heimdall. He remained awed by Su Yao's ability to wield Mjolnir and defeat him with ease. 213 214
During Hela's return, Thor was thrown through a wormhole to Sakaar, captured, and forced into the Grandmaster's Contest of Champions. Deprived of Mjolnir, he was overpowered by Ares until Odin helped him recognize and awaken the lightning within himself. Su Yao subsequently arrived and rescued him by effortlessly defeating Ares and intimidating the Grandmaster. 348 353
Following Asgard's destruction, Thor accepted Su Yao's offer to return the surviving Asgardians to their homeland. Su Yao recreated Asgard and later enhanced Thor and the Asgardians into immortal Godly Bodies. 582 586 626
Appearance
Thor is a large, heavily built Asgardian warrior who commonly wears silver battle armor and a red cape. 165
- During his Sakaar captivity, his long hair was forcibly shaved and he entered the arena in makeshift armor with a shield and mace. 350
- After Balder's enhancement, golden lightning flickers across his body and shines from his eyes. 626
- His Godly Body enables him to fly without relying on a weapon. 635
Personality
Thor begins as arrogant, combative, and deeply attached to his identity as an Asgardian god. He is easily provoked when mortals dismiss his divinity and initially considers Loki's crimes a matter for Asgardian judgment. 165 171
His exile changes him substantially. Faced with the Destroyer Armor while mortal, Thor accepts death rather than allow others to be harmed. This self-sacrifice proves the compassion and protectiveness Odin wanted him to develop. 96 97
Thor remains proud of his strength and heritage, often boasting after becoming stronger, but he also recognizes Balder's superiority and openly excludes his brother when claiming he can defeat anyone. 626 636 He is protective of Earth and regards Asgard's defense of Midgard as a serious responsibility. 165 171
Abilities & Skills
Asgardian Physiology
Thor possesses exceptional strength, durability, and combat ability even without Mjolnir.
- He survives direct impacts, energy attacks, and battles with Iron Man, Hulk, Ares, and Xu Wenwu. 165 172 350 351 373
- His physical strength was already considerable enough for Ares to initially consider him nearly equal in physique. 350
- Balder's enhancement transforms him into an immortal true Godly Body and greatly increases his physical power. 626
Lightning Manipulation
Thor's lightning is an innate expression of his power, not a power granted by Mjolnir.
- Odin explicitly tells Thor that Mjolnir helps him control and focus his power but is not its source. 351
- He can release lightning through his body and eyes, attack incoming weapons, and empower direct combat. 351 373
- After his enhancement, Thor's lightning becomes golden and powerful enough to instantly defeat a parallel Thor and kill multiple Time Administration Bureau agents. 626 635 636
Mjolnir Mastery
Mjolnir was Thor's primary weapon before its destruction.
- Thor can summon the hammer, throw it with great force, and call down lightning through it. 165
- Odin's enchantment prevents an unworthy Thor from lifting it; during his exile, Su Yao wielded it and used it to restore Thor's power. 94 97
- Thor later emphasizes that Mjolnir's worthiness is based on character rather than raw strength. 279
- During the Ten Rings conflict, Thor states that Mjolnir has been destroyed. 373
Flight and Teleportation
After becoming a true Godly Body, Thor gains greater mobility independent of his weapons.
- He can teleport following Balder's enhancement. 626
- He naturally masters flight, though his long inability to fly initially leaves him unaccustomed to it. 635
Warrior Training
Thor is an experienced Asgardian frontline fighter.
- He fights with Mjolnir, Stormbreaker, swords, shields, maces, and unarmed strikes. 165 350 480
- He leads Asgardians in combat against the Ten Rings and their soldiers. 373
- His confidence can become a weakness when he relies too heavily on weapons or confronts unfamiliar opponents without preparation. 350 351 373
Equipment / Weapons / Items
- Mjolnir / Thunder God's Hammer — Former enchanted hammer that Thor could summon and use to channel lightning; later stated to have been destroyed. 165 373

- Frigga — Mother. Thor returns eagerly to Asgard to reunite with her and later recounts his defeat by the White-Clothed Hero to her. 213
- Loki — Raised alongside Thor; their relationship is marked by resentment, betrayal, and continued concern. Thor calls Loki his brother before correcting the relationship to “cousins.” 165 171
- Hela — Thor's older half-sister. Her return shocks him, and he later says he was forced to kill her after she blinded one of his eyes. 346 559
- Balder / Su Yao — Thor's younger brother and benefactor. Thor first suspects Su Yao is family due to his Godly Power and Mjolnir wielding; Balder later enhances Thor into a true Godly Body. 169 213 626
- Jane Foster — A Midgardian who encounters Thor during his powerless exile and tries to help him when he is critically injured by the Destroyer Armor. 93 97
- Sif and the Warriors Three — Loyal Asgardian companions who defy Loki's orders to seek Thor on Earth and fight beside him against the Destroyer Armor and Ten Rings. 95 96 373
- Valkyrie — A former Valkyrie whom Thor meets on Sakaar. He appeals to her oath to protect Asgard's throne, though she initially refuses to help him. 349 350
