Background and History
Meng Yiran grew up and cultivated with her grandparents, Dragon Duke Meng Shu and Snake Grandma Chao Tianxiang. Her parents died young. Snake Grandma feared that, as the couple aged, they would no longer be able to help Yiran obtain higher-level soul rings; she also believed Yiran’s shared Serpent Cane martial soul needed a different cultivation path to surpass her own achievements 24 25.
After a dispute with Shrek Academy’s group over a Phoenix-tail Crested Serpent, Snake Grandma asked Su Ran to teach Yiran. Yiran initially hesitated: she was comfortable training with her grandparents and doubted that the young, masked teacher had enough experience. Impressed by his disciples’ progress, she sincerely accepted him, recited the oath on her Peach Blossom Token, and entered Peach Blossom Spring Academy 21 24.
Su Ran rejected the captured serpent as an unsuitable third ring and prescribed physical training before Yiran absorbed a stronger one. Dragon Duke initially objected to the planned ring’s age, but her subsequent progress won his admiration. Within a month, she reached Soul Elder and helped her academy’s team defeat its Shrek opponents 25 27 36 39 42 43.
Yiran’s interests increasingly turned toward Nether Artifacts, hidden weapons, and Soul Tools. Though reluctant to choose a teacher at first, she insists on keeping her oath when Dragon Duke questions the decision 27.
She is protective of her fellow disciples. When a Demon Whale King pursues Shui Yue’er, Yiran gives her a life-saving Nether Artifact and stays behind to delay it, suffering a serious shoulder injury 239. Her later willingness to risk a costly godhead-fusion technique reflects the same resolve 484 486.
