I turned my head and looked at them. They immediately stopped their discussion and left.
I narrowed my eyes, a dark cloud hanging over my heart.
Over the past few days of investigation, I discovered that someone was deliberately trying to cover something up. The truth from five years ago seemed to be a secret. The more I investigated, the greater the resistance I encountered.
That afternoon, the Homeroom Teacher called me to her office again and reprimanded me for my declining grades. In the end, she said with impatience, "If your grades continue to drop like this, I'll have to call your parents and have you expelled."
I left in silence and returned to the classroom. I lay my head on my desk, contemplating what to do next.
Undoubtedly, someone was instigating the Homeroom Teacher to do this behind her back.
Someone in this school didn't want me to investigate further.
But the more they acted like this, the more determined I became to investigate, no matter what.
I found Old Chen Tou again, but this time he avoided me. This made me vaguely realize that something was about to happen.
As expected, within a few days, all the old employees of the school disappeared.
It was then that I realized something was wrong. I went to find Old Chen Tou again. He looked at me blankly and didn't say a word.
As I was leaving, I accidentally saw a figure flash by. Someone was monitoring me.
I sneaked behind the boiler room and, through the window, saw a figure talking to Old Chen Tou.
"You promised that no matter what, you wouldn't reveal this matter."
"Don't worry, I won't say anything."
"Pack your things and prepare to leave in the next few days. You're old now, it's time to go back to your hometown. The school will give you a retirement pension."
"I understand." Old Chen Tou's tone seemed very dejected.
They exchanged a few more words, and then the person left.
I hurried back to find Old Chen Tou. When he saw me, his face darkened. I quickly handed him a cigarette. He took it, lit it, and after exhaling a smoke ring, he gritted his teeth and said, "Are you trying to force me to my death?"
"I don't want to do this, but I really have no choice," I said helplessly, looking at him pleadingly.
"What do you mean you don't want to do this? You're trying to force me," Old Chen Tou said fiercely, putting down the cigarette. "Things have finally calmed down. Why do you have to stir them up again? What good will that do you!"
"I need to know the truth," I said seriously.
"What good will knowing the truth do? This is a scandal for the school. It caused a huge uproar back then, but what does it have to do with you?" Old Chen Tou asked me.
I was stunned for a moment and suddenly said, "I saw Han Qianqian."
Old Chen Tou's hand trembled, and his cigarette tip fell to the ground. He looked at me, his face unusually grim. After a while, he shook his head, "Impossible, you absolutely couldn't have seen her. Because she's already..."
"She's already dead, but I still saw her," I said, looking directly at Old Chen Tou.
"Even so, it's impossible, absolutely impossible," Old Chen Tou said, looking at me with impatience. "Don't try to trick me. Even if she's turned into that thing, she shouldn't be able to come out and harm people now."
"Who says she can't? I saw her kill someone with my own eyes," I said earnestly.
"This is impossible, absolutely impossible," Old Chen Tou shook his head, his thoughts seemingly in chaos. After a while, he looked at me and said, "Since you say you saw her, why don't you describe what she looked like!"
I nodded and described what I had seen. When Old Chen Tou heard about a woman in a school uniform holding a dagger, he collapsed onto the floor, his face filled with bone-chilling fear.
He muttered to himself, "She's back, she's back to harm people again."
I looked at him and softly asked, "Tell me, what exactly happened back then!"
"It's impossible. Even if she's turned into that thing, she should be fine. It's been five years, she shouldn't be able to come out," Old Chen Tou said, full of confusion and thought.
After a while, as if he had thought of something, he grabbed my hand and asked, "Have you been to the Abandoned School?"
"Yes, I have," I replied.
"Then did you see a Coffin?" Old Chen Tou asked urgently.
"There was no Coffin," I shook my head.
"The Coffin was very big, covered with talisman paper everywhere. It was also bound with ink thread and bells," Old Chen Tou pressed.
"None of that. I didn't see those things," I said.
"This is impossible, absolutely impossible!" Old Chen Tou shook his head, his face full of disbelief. After a while, he looked at me and asked cautiously, "Then did you see if she had a dark green Bracelet on her arm?"
"No, her hands weren't wearing any bracelets," I shook my head and said.
"Then what about her neck, was she wearing a collar?" Old Chen Tou asked again, his eyes full of expectation.
This time it was my turn to be impatient. I said, "Besides her school uniform, she only had a dagger. There were no accessories at all."
Old Chen Tou nodded, his eyes filled with terror. After a while, he said, "If that's the case, then you absolutely must not go to the Abandoned School. Something big is going to happen, something huge!"
With that, he hurried out.
I waited for him for a long time, but he didn't come back.
So I left the school. By the time I got home, it was already late at night. I lay in bed, my mind churning. What did Old Chen Tou's words mean?
Why was he asking me these things?
I thought for a long time but couldn't figure it out. However, judging by Old Chen Tou's panicked state, something major must have happened.
The next day, I went to school early, wanting to find Old Chen Tou and get a clear answer.
