Ares said, "Someone just ran off the arena. Can't you let me go this once?"
Zhong Lang stroked his chin and said, "Well, that probably won't do. I don't have a habit of leaving survivors. Also, you'd better not surrender. I've never cared much for rules, so even if you surrender, I'll kill you anyway. In that case, your death will be rather undignified."
Ares was instantly speechless. He gave up on negotiating and cursed, "If you're going to kill me, then kill me! There are only slain Gods of War—never surrendering ones!" As he spoke, he sprang to his feet and charged at Zhong Lang with his spear.
Zhong Lang chuckled and said, "That's more like it. If you're going to die, you should die like this. It suits the status of a God of War." As he spoke, the red glow of the halberd in his hand blazed brilliantly. With one strike, he snapped Ares's spear, then pierced his chest and seized his divine core. He roasted Ares's body thoroughly and said, "Hmm, this Divine Physique is pretty sturdy. Since I've roasted you, I might as well not waste you. I'll take you with me." With that, he carried the cooked Ares off the arena.
In the Primordial Wilderness, on Yingzhou Island, Xuanxiao smacked his lips and said, "After what Zhong Lang just did, the gods who fight next will probably become a lot stronger. After all, dying is one thing, but being roasted and eaten afterward? Who could stand that?"
Dijun laughed heartily and said, "Although we're fairly particular most of
