Earl Dawn said with a beaming smile, "I really enjoy spending time with young people like you. It makes me feel like I'm not old yet."

Christina awkwardly flattered him.
Earl Dawn laughed heartily. "Oh, come on. I'm already over a hundred."
Christina was stunned. "You're already—"
"Oh, you didn't know? I'm a Fifth Level transcendent."
Earl Dawn smiled. "But unlike you clever people... I'm from the Society. I founded the Rose Society myself."
The "Society" was the organization of Demon Scholars.
Realizing that the person she had rejected back then was actually a Fifth Level transcendent left Christina terrified to the point of trembling on one hand, yet filled with inexplicable pride and regret on the other.
She was proud that someone of such stature had taken a fancy to her, but regretted that she hadn't accepted at the time! Christina bit her lip, feeling somewhat aggrieved.
