March 21, early morning.
The Spirit Tower, outside Leipzig.
Albert Lore scratched his messy, fluffy hair, grabbed his cup, and yawned as he walked out of the laboratory.
The laboratory was quite cool, so even in summer he wore a heavy woolen robe. He wore dark-colored robes simply because they were more resistant to stains. Even if they got splattered with blood or greasy broth from a meal, it would not be too noticeable.
After completely falling out with the military, Albert no longer lazed around in the Stibium Laboratory in Lionheart City. He simply packed up his things and returned to the Spirit Tower.
Once he stopped working with those Royal Alchemists who had to submit a report and await approval before conducting even a single experiment, and who held two-hour-long meetings twice a week, Albert immediately felt as though he had come back to life.
As expected, the Spirit Tower is still the best! Home really is the best!
At the Spirit Tower, everyone usually walked along without looking at or speaking to anyone else. It was nothing like Lionheart City, where everyone he passed would greet him and strike up a conversation, even though he did not know a single one of them. Speaking made him feel exhausted, but if he said nothing, people would accuse him of being arrogant.
No one here managed his schedule, either. He could go to bed whenever he wanted and wake up whenever he wanted. He did not have to force himself to attend morning meetings. He could simply take his food back to the laboratory and squat beside a corpse while eating, instead of living in fear that he would miss mealtime and be unable to get a meal.
He could write his experimental records however he pleased, using characters
