Miss Sprengel had long since placed all the materials required for the ritual here, so she now retrieved them with ease--
She and the other two picked up brushes and first used honey to draw a complex ritual array on the ground. Then they mixed large quantities of ruby, amethyst, Red Spinel, copper powder, ash ground from the skulls of sapient creatures, and the ashes left behind after demons died, sprinkling the resulting powder over it.
Once the honey had glued everything to the ground, they used the Wind Creation Spell to blow away the powder that had yet to set.
Miss Sprengel then took out several strips of dried snake meat soaked in mead.
The snake meat, hard as cured bacon, had already been twisted into rings. Blasphemous phrases were drawn across them in black runes--every snake had been covered in extravagant praise of depravity. The contents were so explicit that they could never pass censorship.
There were four such Snake Rings. Lady Malasia, Miss Sprengel, and Dr. Levicune stood within three of them, each separated from the others by 120 degrees. Even Dr. Levicune, who had been sitting in a wheelchair, forced himself to stand and enter his own ritual ring.
The final Snake Ring was cut into three sections with a Ritual Knife, positioned between the three people like three walls with gaps that let in the wind. With that, the preparatory ritual for the Ouroboros Ring was fully complete.
After all, the Outer Ring Ritual was the core of the ritual, while the Inner Ring Ritual was merely an ignition device--something used to connect the ritual of "greater gravity" with the Fallen Angel.
In a sense, the role of the Inner Ring Ritual was equivalent to fastening the Fallen Angel's belt to a rocket...
