Background

Dual Pupils was Jiang Qiao’s first SSR-Class talent from the Eerie Simulator. It was described as a mysterious pupil that breaks the boundary between life and death, allowing its bearer to look directly into an Ominous World. Its early warning—that seeing the abyss means one has already approached it—established the talent’s link to an Unknown Land. 8

Its first major practical use came during Jiang Qiao’s investigation of Paper People. Through Dual Pupils, he saw the Shadow Figures within them and the black threads extending into the void that controlled them. Because the talent allowed him to touch what he could see, Jiang Qiao was able to sever a thread with Thunder Art—something impossible through ordinary perception. 8

Unlike Jiang Qiao’s other talents, Dual Pupils requires rare, specialized materials for every advancement rather than only for quality upgrades. Known catalysts include the Purple River Cart, Vermillion Fruit, Corpse Fragrance Flower, Nether Eye, Clock of Time, blue eyes, and fragments of the Bridge of Helplessness. Origin and Mystery

The Simulator initially classified Dual Pupils as SSR-Class, but later reclassified it as ∞-Class—higher than X-Class. While X denotes the unknown, the ∞ designation reflects potential without a known limit. 871 1789

According to the Old Ghost, Dual Pupils may be a fragment of an entity called It, itself connected to another world and the Nether Sea. People who borrowed Its power throughout history were regarded as chosen figures of their eras, yet they and the major powers behind them were ultimately annihilated. 987 1237

Several accounts connect Dual Pupils to divine eyes and the shattered Red Moon:

• Jiang Qiao speculated that the giant eye of Changyang Mountain, the Meteorite Eye, and the materials that upgrade Dual Pupils may once have been parts of the same deity-like eye. 1237
• The Fude Boy recognized Jiang Qiao’s pupils and stated that they could “only return,” implying that they belonged somewhere else. 478

At the Second Tier, Dual Pupils gained the ability to fire deathly gray light.
