Background

Mo Hua was born into a poor rogue-cultivator household. His father, Mo Shan, earned spirit stones as a monster hunter, while his mother, Liu Ruhua, worked in a dining hall despite the heat harming her health. Both parents saved what they could to send Mo Hua into an Immortal Gate’s outer sect. 1

He was born with memories of two lifetimes and unusually powerful innate Divine Sense. The resulting imbalance between his mind and body left him sickly and physically weak from childhood; at age ten, he could not move a stone cauldron that peers could lift. 20

Motivated by his family’s financial hardship, Mo Hua pursued array study as a way to earn spirit stones. He practiced basic formations, sold his work through Fate Pavilion, and saved enough to buy cultivation techniques. 20 26

He later entered Void Gate, where his array talent, spells, and repeated involvement in dangerous incidents earned him a reputation far beyond his cultivation level. His identity as Void Gate’s Array Dao Champion became widely known after the Ganxue Sword Discussion. 939 1343

During his travels in the Great Wilderness, Mo Hua adopted the identity of a Shaman. He united tribes, developed their territory, organized their military and civil affairs, and taught children cultivation, literacy, conduct, and array fundamentals. 1171 1175 1176

His growing control over divinity, political authority, and military power gradually endangered his Humanity, making him colder and more detached until he recognized the change himself. 1279

Appearance

Mo Hua is slender, fair-skinned, and physically frail, with delicate, picturesque features and bright eyes. His appearance is often described as porcelain-doll-like in childhood and as clear, handsome, and almost celestial as he grows older. 11 20 809 1008

  • Thin and weaker-bodied than cultivators of similar age due to the imbalance between his Divine Sense and body. 20
  • Fair complexion, refined features, and a gentle outward bearing. 20 809
  • Brilliant, star-like eyes that can appear compassionate, profound, or imposing. 809
  • Often underestimated because of his youthful face and slight stature. 1008 1361
  • Uses disguises effectively, including a bronze-skinned Qi Refining Body Cultivator persona for travel through the Sand Sea. 1151

Personality

Mo Hua is observant, practical, and deeply motivated by responsibility toward his family, friends, and community. As a child, he sought ways to earn spirit stones after overhearing his parents’ worries; later, he repeatedly used his abilities to improve the safety and livelihood of others. 5 232 1176

He is polite and modest toward people who treat him well, but sharp-tongued and calculating toward hostile opponents. He frequently hides his strength, manipulates assumptions, and turns enemies’ expectations against them. 335 850 1315 1337

Despite his capacity for ruthless action, he avoids needless killing. In the Great Wilderness, he subdued tribes through force while sparing those who yielded, earning respect for combining power with compassion. 1171

His curiosity can be intense and indiscriminate, particularly concerning arrays, Daoist arts, karma, and hidden inheritances. He is willing to investigate dangerous mysteries, but he remains cautious when the risks exceed his present ability. 615 1298 1311
