Brando's understanding of it was limited to knowing that it was Ailanta's token. The emblem had been given by the Sage to several people close to her—including several Grand Druids of the World Ring. Aside from that, every rumor about it in Vonder sounded more like an ethereal legend. Some said it was a holy relic similar to the Wind Queen Ring,
while others claimed it was merely a symbol with a special meaning, possessing no function beyond representing honor and status.
But now, it seemed that the power contained within this brooch-like emblem far exceeded any rumor about it.
Right before Brando's eyes, green light spread from the little elf, forming a barrier of light that pushed back the silver radiance of the Grasp of Tiamat from within. Only now did he see that the silver light was actually a chain of light without physical form. Under the resistance of the Nature Affinity Emblem, it was being held back at the edge of the barrier. The scene was already perfectly clear: the Nature Affinity Emblem was
protecting the little elf.
In Vonder, there were countless reactive defensive items. Among them was a particularly high-grade category that could even actively "revive," "teleport," or temporarily shelter its protector within a demiplane in another dimension. The reactive defensive item that automatically produced a barrier before him was, in fact, considered rather low-grade.
The problem was that this barrier had blocked a genuine divine artifact—even an ancient object recorded in Cruzian myths and legends: the Grasp of Tiamat. It was unable to advance even an inch beyond the curtain of light produced by the Nature Affinity Emblem.
