Freya blinked and woke from the darkness. At some point, the candle on the table had burned out, leaving the bedroom pitch-black. She was dazed for a moment before remembering what had happened. The stone tablet Brando had given her had suddenly cracked open, and a golden disk had flown out of it. A beam of light from the disk had struck her forehead. Could that have been a dream? Freya instinctively looked toward the table, only to discover that the now-lusterless disk lay quietly among a pile of stone fragments. Moonlight spilled through the window and over it, giving off a cold, clear radiance. Only then did Freya notice that there was a moon in the sky again. She had no idea what had happened earlier and assumed it had merely been a solar eclipse. She was more surprised that she had slept until nightfall.
Could everything that had happened before really have been true? She instinctively recalled the events of the dream and abruptly rose to her feet. She suddenly discovered that a great deal of strange knowledge had appeared in her mind. It seemed innate. Although some of it was still unfamiliar, it felt as though she had systematically studied it at some point in the past and had merely grown rusty from not using it for a long time, rather than having a mass of written data force-fed into her mind. With just a little recollection, the knowledge became clear. She even had the impression that if she found an opportunity to practice a few times, she would be able to master it.
Most of the knowledge in her mind concerned combat techniques, as though she had once been trained as an elite warrior. Those warriors belonged to an organization called the War Goddess Guard—or perhaps
