Brando stared at Nemesis, who had suddenly appeared in front of him, utterly dumbfounded. Had this female knight forgotten to take her medicine today, or had she taken too much? No, he suddenly felt a chill in his heart. His gaze once again lingered carefully on Nemesis's face. The slightly narrowed eyes and gentle smile at the corners of her mouth were far too familiar to him—so familiar that he had recalled them countless times in his dreams, yet now they had appeared before him in the flesh. He blinked, as if checking whether he had seen incorrectly, or whether this female knight was simply making fun of him. That did not seem like Nemesis's usual personality, though. After hesitating for quite some time, he finally dared to confirm
who was standing before him.
"Se... Senior?"
"Not bad." Bai Jia winked mischievously, shoved Brando aside, and walked into the room. "Where's your little fiancée?"
Brando broke out in a cold sweat. He felt as though his brain was no longer enough for the situation. However, Senior Bai Jia had especially loved teasing him back in The Amber Sword, and those words completely confirmed her identity. He had originally been preparing to find someone to investigate the matter of the War Tablet that had fallen outside Fatan Port, but by now he had completely forgotten about it
He closed the door and stared in confusion at the female knight's graceful back. Bai Jia looked around the study as if she were extremely interested in the place. She walked over to the fireplace, picked up a framed photograph from the mantel, and said, "This room is Baron Metz's office. That fellow's a stubborn old man. He must have given it to you to use, which means"
"he must think highly of you."
