The night was cold, a frigid night.
Yet Yu Wen's heart burned hot, like surging magma scorching Huang Zhongfei.
Most of the first- and second-year students had already returned to their own little nests, sheltering from winter's chill.
The seniors were having their final evening self-study session.
The long main road through No.4 Middle School was somewhat desolate at the moment. Yu Wen walked beside Huang Zhongfei, and the two did not look particularly well-matched, as though they belonged in entirely different styles of painting.
Behind them stood the brightly lit teaching building, a magnificent sight. In Class 8's classroom, Chen Qian alone guarded the ages. Through the endless night, he made a pilgrimage through knowledge.
Everyone had their own aspirations.
So, to Yu Wen, what was love?
Love was a beam of light, even when there was no light.
Yu Wen clasped her hands behind her back, imitating the female lead from a cheesy idol drama. She took light little steps, rising onto her toes, then onto her toes again, hoping to walk with innocent charm.
But she got a little carried away. The moment one foot touched the cement floor, before she could steady herself, her body tilted and she lost her balance. Yu Wen cried out, "Ah!"
As she shouted, her body tipped backward. Huang Zhongfei reached out to catch her, but he was ten centimeters short.
Yu Wen watched helplessly as only ten centimeters separated her fingers from Huang Zhongfei's.
So close, yet as distant as the ends of the earth.
No! Only when heaven and earth unite would I dare part from you!
At that moment, Yu Wen overcame gravity itself. Her upper body stopped tipping over, while her legs flailed like crab legs, constantly struggling to regain balance.
"Thud, thud, thud!"
"Back, back, back!"
