Inside an abandoned human-brain server.

A white figure slowly floated out, taking human form as it stood opposite the "human-brain server."

The human-brain server was a living person, except that its head was covered in data cables.

At some point, a practice became popular on Machine Rift Star: storing important data in human brains instead of databases.

If one insisted on a scientific explanation, human brains could be fitted with electronic barriers and brain firewalls, making data storage more secure.

It was precisely under this practice that biological computer technology flourished. Advanced biological computing systems were developed one after another, and some of the more advanced biological computers even became the wills of corporations.

"Jiwa, did you find anything?"

"The data loss in the server is pretty severe," the white figure said.

After losing enough data, the entire "human-brain server" spasmed nonstop, as if suffering from epilepsy.

"Let's go to the next server."

"Okay."

Before long, Jiwa arrived at a sales center for external storage hardware. Business here was extremely brisk. Not to mention memory implantation machines and brain-copying software—even old-fashioned USB drives and external memory cards had been swept clean.

Some of these memory cards had capacities of only a few gigabytes.

The white figure Jiwa had become passed through the noisy crowd of humanoids and went straight to the after-sales center. Its palm turned into white mist and entered the port directly.

The next moment, a large amount of after-sales data was copied out, containing a great many complaints.

What's going on? I clearly stored my memories on several data cards. Why am I still forgetting them?

Damn data cards! They were hacked, and all my savings were wiped out. I want compensation, compensation!
