They carried a strong rhythm.

This was some kind of signaling method.
The officers immediately shouted.
"Stop marching!"
"Rest in place for ten minutes!"
The formation stopped at once.
All the Green Sheep People quickly sat down, picked up their water flasks to drink, or wiped the sweat from their foreheads.
No one whispered to one another.
Nor did anyone wander about aimlessly.
This small detail alone showed that the army's discipline was extremely strict.

Black Stone placed his beloved magic musket across his lap and panted heavily.
His physical fitness was not particularly good. After several hours of rapid marching, he was drenched in sweat, and his legs felt as heavy as if they had been filled with lead.
