The New Continent! Second update

Everything before him was utterly desolate.

Old Sea Dog dragged his exhausted body onward, his mouth so dry it felt ready to crack and bleed. All he could see ahead were scattered weeds. For some reason, they were black, a sight that sent shivers down his spine. The conditions here were even harsher than on the Overseas Islands. After searching the area, Old Sea Dog had found no food and only exhausted himself further. He slumped to the ground, cursing. "What the hell is this place? Why can't I find a single thing to eat?"

No food.

No fresh water.

Old Sea Dog could feel his strength draining rapidly. At this rate, he would be trapped here until he died.

No.

He had to save himself.

Old Sea Dog forced himself back to his feet and continued along the barren beach, muttering, "No! I can't die here! I finally worked my way up to being a leader. How can I just die in this godforsaken place?"

The urge to survive drove him onward.

A strange noise came from a clump of grass ahead. Old Sea Dog's eyes suddenly lit up. Drawing his dagger, he rushed over and swiftly dug through the grass, soon uncovering a rat's nest. The rats inside had gray fur and sharp teeth. One vicious rat bit his arm, but he ignored the blood streaming down it and seized the creature, stabbing it to death with his dagger. Then he gulped down its blood ravenously before devouring it, skin, bones, and all.

At last, his strength began to return.
