(Too busy to think straight.)
The old battlefield gradually came into view.
Soren had chosen not to travel with the followers of the God Who Cries. He had nothing against people of Lawful Good Alignment, but he did not much like spending time with them, either. It was simply a difference in worldview. Still, they could be useful. Lawful Good people were fond of getting involved in other people's affairs, and many could not bear to witness injustice. So Soren had let slip a little about Malar, the God of Hunt.
The God Who Cries and the God of Hunt had been enemies for over a thousand years. By now, opposing whatever the other side did had become a matter of course.
If the followers of the God Who Cries learned that Malar's believers were conducting a bloody Sacrificial Ritual, the Church of the God of Suffering would certainly act. They would help the innocent, but striking at their enemies was also part of their daily work. The two deities the Church hated most were Malar and the Maiden of Pain. That enmity between deities had even carried over to the Mother of the Earth's daughter, the current Goddess of Agriculture.
Soren had yet to make a true deity his enemy.
If he became an enemy of the Lord of Shadows one day, the Shadow Church would be the first target of his followers. Once a war between deities began, it was hard to stop. Centuries of fighting would only deepen the hatred.
The Ogre War.
It was a Legendary Combat Soren had taken part in, though he had been no more
