Soren felt torn.

If the Goddess of Magic survived, some of the events he remembered would change. He would lose part of his foreknowledge, and navigating the future might no longer be so easy. Events he remembered might never happen at all. The butterfly effect would ripple through the entire Time of Troubles, and even he could not say what the future would hold.

It would be like losing a powerful cheat!

But...

If the Goddess of Magic died, the price would be far too high.

Her death would bring the Material Plane crashing down. To say that corpses would lie scattered for miles would be no exaggeration. By the end of the Time of Troubles, its population would have fallen by ninety percent—at least a hundred million dead. Devils from Baator Hell, demons from The Abyss, and fiends from Pandemonium and Inferno Hell had torn the world apart from the very start of the Time of Troubles. Many powerful spellcasters had died at their enemies' hands before they could adapt to a world without the Weave. In the end, the accumulated conflicts and hatred had spared not even the deities. And the vast number of souls the devils and demons had pillaged during the calamity would have consequences far into the future.

Put simply:

If the Goddess of Magic survived, the Time of Troubles would be less devastating, but the future would change and Soren would lose his foreknowledge.

If she fell, the Time of Troubles would unfold as he remembered. The Material Plane would be ravaged in an instant, and Soren would be powerless to save it. He could only hold on until the calamity ended, though he would retain the advantage of foreknowledge.

The question was whether to change history!

If Soren managed to save the Goddess
