Tales and Kuaishang stared dumbfounded at the Tavern Owner, who sat beside an empty table, sweating profusely and fidgeting as though sitting on pins and needles.
What were the odds of running into a Tavern Owner being robbed while heading out at night to dump a body?
"Marina, where did your manners go? Why haven't you invited our two new friends to sit down?"
Ricky still looked as easygoing as ever:
"Bring them something to drink, too. No alcohol—I need them to stay sober."
As he spoke, he kept his eyes fixed on Tampa.
Something to drink. Stay sober.
Tales and Kuaishang exchanged uneasy glances, communicating their feelings through their eyes.
What the hell?
No idea!
The surrounding Mercenaries continued to stare coldly at the newcomers. Their whispers and mocking laughter radiated an ominous air.
Marina raised her eyebrows, jerked her chin toward Tales and Kuaishang, and kicked an empty table beside her.
"You heard him?"
Tales and Kuaishang looked at each other, hesitating over whether they should sit down.
Marina sighed.
She lowered her head and, with a sharp shing, drew two swords!
When she raised her head again with a murderous expression...
Tales and Kuaishang were already sitting in the chairs beside the empty table.
As if they had teleported there.
They braced themselves against the tabletop, sat perfectly straight, and obediently smiled, both showing off their clean front teeth.
Their speed, attitude, and sweet smiles left Marina, who had been looking forward to spilling some blood, feeling slightly defeated.
A Mercenary behind them brought two cups of drinks from the bar and slammed them onto the table without ceremony.
Tales and Kuaishang instinctively shrank backward.
They pulled their hands away from the table, keeping them as far from the two drinks as possible.
"What? Afraid they're poisoned?"
