Ding Ling repeated it once more.
Daoist Yu Ji murmured, somewhat dazed:
"Old Immortal Nanhua and Zuo Ci actually... actually died?!"
In Yu Ji's eyes, Zuo Ci was an extraordinary man who showed his head but never his tail.
Old Immortal Nanhua needed no further explanation. In his heart, he was practically a God/Celestial existence.
Yet these two legendary venerable figures
had actually been killed by Ding Ling?!
How was that possible?!
But Ding Ling could not have been lying. Daoist Yu Ji trusted his character and knew that Ding Ling would never kill anyone without reason. Ding Ling understood righteousness and repaid kindness; how could he be someone who wantonly slaughtered innocents? Thus, after being distraught for a moment, he composed himself and looked at Ding Ling with shining eyes:
"Can you tell me the details properly?"
"Of course."
Ding Ling nodded.
He gave a rough account of what Old Immortal Nanhua and Zuo Ci had done.
After listening, Daoist Yu Ji inhaled deeply and said:
"If that's really the case, then their deaths were well deserved."
He let out a long sigh:
Who would have thought that these two people I admired were actually like this? Truly, you can know a person's face but not their heart. Of all things in this world, the hardest thing to understand really is the human heart.
Ding Ling neither agreed nor disagreed. He said:
"That's why I came to find you this time. I wanted to see whether Old Immortal Nanhua tampered with the Supreme Path to Great Peace you cultivated. If he did, we might have to abolish your cultivation, or it could lead to serious consequences."
Daoist Yu Ji nodded, indicating that Ding Ling could examine him.
Ding Ling stepped forward and examined him carefully.
