Jing Qian was originally a fencer repeatedly disparaged by his rival Wang Li as untalented. His grandfather nevertheless recognized his potential and sent him the family sword manual. Jing Qian killed one knife-wielding robber and wounded four others before suffering a fatal wound himself 1.

After dying, he entered a confined space with the bandit leader he had killed. He repeatedly slew the revived enemy, absorbing pale-green smoke containing strengthened physique, sharper thinking, and martial memories.
