The Agent Who Came Knocking
After the match, Ramselaar and Balazhit chased Tang Ye around the locker room.
"Don't run! Come celebrate with us!"
"Stop running, Tang!"
Tang Ye ran circles around the locker room, faster than he had during the match.
He had no choice. Those two bastards, Ramselaar and Balazhit, were charging at him with water bottles.
They wanted to pour water all over him. "No, no, no, don't do this! I didn't bring a change of clothes!"
"Then don't wear any!"
Balazhit climbed straight over the bed in the middle and reached for Tang Ye.
Tang Ye reacted quickly and ran behind Amrabat.
That way, Balazhit would not splash water on him.
Who would have thought that Amrabat would turn around and grab Tang Ye by the wrist?
"Hey, Sofyan, what are you doing?"
"No, let go of me! Let go!"
"Aren't we good friends? Why? No!"
Tang Ye had been betrayed by Amrabat. Balazhit and Ramselaar rushed over and poured every drop from their water bottles onto Tang Ye's head.
This was how Utrecht's players celebrated victory.
"Wohooo!!!"
"Damn it, Sofyan, you betrayed me!"
Tang Ye sat on the floor and glared viciously at Amrabat. "I'll never trust you again!"
Amrabat ignored Tang Ye. Instead, he grabbed another bottle of water and walked toward him with a grin.
"No, brother, good brother, don't do this! Sofyan, remember our friendship!"
Sensing trouble, Tang Ye jumped to his feet and ran.
As he ran, he snatched the half-finished bottle of water from Van der Maarel's hand and caught Amrabat completely off guard.
"Hahaha, Sofyan, you're still too bad!"
Tang Ye backed away, only for his heel to step on something.
He turned around.
It was Erik ten Hag, who had just returned from an interview.
Utrecht had defeated their opponents 3:1 in this match. On the back of that victory, Erik ten Hag scored another goal at the press conference, extending their lead over Cambuur to three goals.
"Every time I come back to the locker room, the floor is wet. Can't you celebrate some other way?"
Erik ten Hag pointed at the shoes on his feet. "I'm wearing leather shoes. It's easy for me to slip."
"I'm wearing slippers."
Tang Ye pointed at his feet.
"...Fine, forget that."
Erik ten Hag took the water bottle from Tang Ye's hand, drank the remaining water, then stuffed the empty bottle back into Tang Ye's arms.
"Guys, today was a good victory, but we must stay focused on our matches."
"3:1, but today's opponent was relatively weak. Later on, we'll face stronger teams—Feyenoord, PSV Eindhoven, Ajax. I hope you can still celebrate like this after facing those teams."
Erik ten Hag still carried authority. Once he said that, the locker room fell silent, and everyone quietly looked at him.
Except for Tang Ye, who was drying his hair with a towel, and Amrabat, who was drying himself with one.
"But!"
"Today, we won."
"You've earned a two-day holiday!"
!!!
"Woww!"
Tang Ye suddenly leaped up, grabbed a water bottle, and flung water wherever there were people.
After splashing everyone, he ran straight out of the locker room.
Time to get out of here!
The front-page headline of the Utrecht Evening News—the Royal Dutch Football Association and youth protection organizations investigated Utrecht Football Club's alleged mistreatment of youth academy players. There was insufficient evidence to prove that head coach Erik ten Hag had forbidden Tang Ye from entering the first-team cafeteria.
"We see him every day. His favorite food is the raw herring slices in the cafeteria. That's what motivates him to train."
That was what a first-team cafeteria staff member said.
Voetbal—Tang Ye's goal tally in the Dutch Eredivisie had now reached three, making him the U17 player with the most goals in the league.
Dongqiudi reposted: Utrecht defeated Cambuur 3:1 at home. In his post-match interview, head coach Erik ten Hag said he was dissatisfied with the players' performance today. The real score should have been 4:1, perhaps even 5:1.
Erik ten Hag had generously given the players two days off.
That was extremely comfortable. Over those two days, Tang Ye only needed to complete his daily tasks to save up six Comeback Points.
Apart from his daily tasks, Tang Ye received a call from his parents at noon on the first day of his holiday.
Zhang Qingqing wanted Tang Ye to buy a house near the training base so he would not have to live in the dormitory anymore.
But Tang Ye said there was no need.
Damn it, he was already more than ten minutes late even living in the dormitory. If he bought a place outside, wouldn't he be half an hour late?
That afternoon, while Tang Ye was playing FIFA in Zaka's room, he received a call.
+0031. It was a local Netherlands number.
Boer said he was a football agent and hoped to work with Tang Ye.
"Unless you can help me beat my friend at FIFA, I won't work with you."
Tang Ye was about to hang up when Boer hurriedly stopped him. "Wait, wait! I'm not a scammer."
"I know you're not a scammer, but I don't think I need an agent. I'm doing well right now."
"No, no, no. You're still young, so you don't understand what an agent does. Listen, I can negotiate benefits from the club for you. You know, more salary."
Boer spoke very quickly.
He had spent 8,000 euros on information fees to get Tang Ye's number from an Utrecht insider.
It was a gamble. He was betting that Tang Ye could achieve something.
But there was one condition: Tang Ye had to be willing to come out and talk to him.
If Tang Ye mistook him for a scammer, then Boer had already lost before the gamble even began.
"Bye-bye, my good buddy."
Beep! Tang Ye hung up.
"What was that? Why were you begging for help on the phone? Hahaha, can you win even once today?"
Zaka shook the PS4 controller in his hand. They had been playing FIFA against each other for an hour, and Tang Ye had not won a single game.
"I haven't played this game long enough. We should play League of Legends or Hearthstone instead. Then you won't be able to beat me. Do you know how good I am at Hearthstone? I could crush you with one hand."
"Fine, fine, I know. But can you at least tell me who called you?"
Zaka was curious about the call, because as far as he remembered, Tang Ye's phone had barely ever rung except for calls starting with +86.
"Oh, it was a football agent. Smith probably sold my number."
"An agent!"
Zaka set the controller down on the bed and turned to Tang Ye. "You're already good enough that agents are reaching out to you? Come on, why did you hang up on him?"
Seeing Tang Ye remain unmoved, Zaka began explaining. "Just like in games, agents can help you transfer. And not only that—they can communicate with the club for you and get you a better contract."
"You could even have an agent put holiday clauses into your contract!"
"Wow!?"
Tang Ye's eyes lit up.
So he could use an agent to fight for more holidays! Without another word, Tang Ye called the number back.
