The ball's in, damn it!
"GOOOOO—AAAAAAA—LLLLLLL!!!!"
"Thomas Agyepong!"
Agyepong's name popped up in the upper-left corner of the screen. The Ghanaian winger's header had broken Utrecht's deadlock.
In the 15th minute, the visitors took a one-goal lead! Erik ten Hag had a headache now.
Twente and Utrecht were roughly evenly matched overall. Now that Twente had scored first, Utrecht was in a difficult spot.
"Watch the flanks! When we attack, try to work it out wide!"
Erik ten Hag shouted loudly at the players on the pitch.
Utrecht had run into the same problem they had during their losing streak at the start of the season: they couldn't get their attack going.
Twente's manager was smart. Their 4-3-3 formation shifted into a 4-5-1 from time to time, and their terrifying midfield depth made it difficult for Utrecht's players to find openings.
Erik ten Hag frowned in the camera shot, then walked back to the bench to discuss tactics with Mitchell van der Gaag.
This match was going to be tough!
"Utrecht!"
Bang! Bang!
"Utrecht!"
Bang! Bang!
The only good news was that this was Utrecht's home ground. The roars of over twenty thousand people in the stadium greatly boosted the players' fighting spirit.
Twente's players were fierce too. Even with a one-goal lead, they continued putting pressure on Utrecht. Jari Oosterwijk and Agyepong ran tirelessly up front, barely giving Janssen any chance to work the ball.
Tang Ye was in a similar situation. Every time he asked Leeuwin for the ball, Agyepong would run toward him.
With someone standing behind him, Tang Ye had no chance to turn with the ball.
Faced with this predicament, captain Ramselaar found a solution. He and Janssen deliberately moved out wide.
Twente's players couldn't all press forward. They had to choose between Tang Ye in the middle and Ramselaar on the flank.
In the end, Twente chose Ramselaar.
Although Tang Ye had scored twice in each of the past two matches, he was still only a sixteen-year-old youngster.
To Twente's players, Tang Ye was nowhere near as threatening as Ramselaar. "Damn, he finally left."
With no one around him, Tang Ye caught his breath and slowly dropped back toward his own half before raising his hand.
Seeing Tang Ye asking for the ball, Leeuwin passed it to Kleiber on the right. Kleiber picked his angle and sent a driven long pass along the ground, successfully delivering the ball to Tang Ye's feet.
"Okay, Tang Ye has the ball now!"
"Tang Ye is driving forward on his own. Twente aren't marking him that tightly."
"Tang Ye has plenty of space!"
Advancing with the ball alone, Tang Ye carefully assessed the situation.
There was no real opportunity at the top of the box.
Then he would go left!
"Go inside."
Tang Ye spoke quietly. His voice was soft, and he had the accent of an Asian learning Dutch, but Haller understood him.
As soon as he reached the flank, Tang Ye found Hidde ter Avest blocking his path.
Take him on?
Tang Ye hadn't unlocked that skill point at all!
Back to Komboy!
Komboy stopped the ball under his foot, while Tang Ye retreated into Komboy's previous position.
As he ran, he watched the situation inside the penalty area.
That way, once he got into position, he wouldn't need to spend time looking around.
Smack! A cross came in from a forty-five-degree angle!
Inside the box, Haller timed his run and attacked the ball!
"It's in! It's in!"
"Tell me who scored—no, tell me who got the assist!"
"Tang Ye!"
"An assist!"
"Utrecht equalize! In the 28th minute, Utrecht level the score through Tang Ye's cross!"
Holy shit, was that really that accurate?
Damn, now I finally know why you guys like Tang Ye so much. He's seriously insane.
He's fucking sixteen?
That was really accurate, but Twente's defense was pretty shaky too.
That's right. Twente are clearly stronger in attack than defense. As long as Utrecht can hold on at the back, with Tang Ye up front, they'll definitely score faster than they concede.
"I'm tearing up, brothers!"
Wang Chao shouted into the microphone. "Do you know why Tang Ye always steps up when his team is behind?"
"Because he heard the voice of the people!"
"Tang King, what a perfect assist."
Haller turned around and ran toward Tang Ye with his arms spread wide. "Tom!"
By the bench, Erik ten Hag's brows were tightly furrowed.
For some reason, watching Tang Ye play always gave him a strange feeling.
He looked like such an innocent, cheerful boy, but the moment you let your guard down, he would stab the opposition right in the back.
What the hell! The match is still going!
After pulling one back, Utrecht stepped up their attack. Balazhit successfully won a penalty in the box, and Haller converted it with a single strike after his run-up, completing his brace!
Utrecht had turned the score around! "Beautiful, that's it!"
Erik ten Hag leapt up from the bench in excitement. Three minutes later, Ayoub, sitting behind him, asked Amrabat to tap Erik ten Hag on the shoulder.
After Erik ten Hag turned his head around, Ayoub asked, "Erik, can I start warming up now?"
"Warm up? No, not for now."
Erik ten Hag smiled. "Yassin, I know you're anxious, but don't be anxious yet. If there's a suitable chance, I'll let you warm up."
"But you told me before..."
"Before was before."
Erik ten Hag answered.
Tang Ye was playing so brilliantly today that there was no way he was making a substitution.
Besides, how could he have known Tang Ye had embarrassing photos of him before?
That damn lazy pig had put Erik ten Hag in a very passive position!
The match continued. In the 40th minute, Twente were attacking. Agyepong carried the ball down the flank, and Tang Ye quietly ran over, looking as though he wanted to tackle him from behind.
But Twente's players reacted quickly and immediately reminded Agyepong to watch his back.
In a panic, Agyepong hurriedly kicked the ball toward the middle.
Agyepong had intended to pass to Ziyech in the center, but Ramselaar, who had suddenly surged forward, intercepted it midway.
Using the chance from that turnover, Utrecht launched another counterattack. Janssen fired a long-range shot from outside the box and once again breached Twente's goal.
The score was stretched to 3-1, and the players began embracing and celebrating on the pitch.
"Did you see that?"
Erik ten Hag sat back down on the bench and asked Mitchell van der Gaag a strange question.
"What? See what?"
"Tang. Before Tang pressed that number eleven, he made a hand gesture."
"Oh, that? Of course I saw it."
Mitchell van der Gaag smiled.
The fans thought Ramselaar had created that counterattack, but that wasn't actually the case.
Before Tang Ye ran toward Agyepong, he made a beckoning gesture at Ramselaar, signaling him to move forward.
There was nothing unusual about coordinating with a teammate. What was unusual was what happened next.
Tang Ye positioned himself to prevent Agyepong from turning, and with no other attacking players ahead of him, Agyepong could only pass the ball into the middle.
That was when Ramselaar, arriving from the center, could make the interception.
Hiss—
Mitchell van der Gaag found it a little terrifying and quickly gave himself a shudder.
"He thought of all that in one second?"
