Seeing his suddenly appearing brother embracing his mother, Nathan felt a surge of anger.
"Stop joking around!"
He shouted furiously, "I don't have some incomprehensible brother!"
He stepped forward and pulled Mariana away.
"Mother, you're deceiving them, aren't you? You made up this lie to escape their pursuit."
"My child..."
Mariana embraced him sorrowfully.
"I'm sorry I hid your background from you for so many years, but this is all true."
"No!"
Nathan was about to argue when another knock sounded at the door.
Mariana blinked. "I'm guessing Cecil and Bryce have arrived, right?"
The room door opened, and the two of them entered, exactly as expected.
"My heavens! There are actually people who look so much alike in this world."
The moment they entered, both men froze.
"Ahem!" Butler Philip sternly reminded them, "They don't merely look alike. She is our mistress. You should pay your respects!"
Mariana greeted them with a smile. "Long time no see, Bryce, Cecil."
"Th-this... what exactly is going on?" Bryce couldn't help asking.
Philip then recounted everything that had happened.
The two men were even more astonished, but since there was no doubt about it, they bowed to Mariana one after another.
"Madam, this is unbelievable. We personally watched them bury you back then. Of course, we're overjoyed that you're still alive."
Philip explained, "The coffin contained wood."
Bryce was furious. "You old man! Were you the only one who knew the truth? How could you keep it from us for all these years!"
Philip looked innocent. "The old master forbade me from telling anyone. Even our current earl doesn't know. Oh, right—Madam later became Miss Setia's teacher as well. Fate truly is wondrous."
"Yes, I only found out just now too. I brought you here to confirm it."
Paul vouched for him.
