Duke Bradley condemned his second son, Laimost, through gritted teeth, each word dripping with blood and tears.
Laimost had shown an interest in power from a young age, but after observing him for a long time, Duke Bradley decided that his abilities did not match his enthusiasm for power. Besides, he had an elder brother.
Duke Bradley had made it clear to his second son early on: as long as nothing happened to his Joan, the ducal succession would never fall to Laimost.
Who could have imagined that, despite nothing happening, Laimost would create an incident himself? Joan died in a duel with an orc, while Laimost showed absolutely no limits to his submission to the orcs, allowing these steppe barbarians to trample on the foundation the Bradley Family had passed down through generations.
"I should never have done it! I truly regret my foolish decision!" Duke Bradley stamped his feet in remorse and shouted in anguish, "After this bastard was captured by the Kingdom Army, I should never have spent a fortune to ransom him. I should have left the beast to rot into a pile of filth in prison."
As he said this, Duke Bradley's eyes suddenly widened. He lunged forward and seized Paul's arm, "You're responsible too! Why did you send him back? Why did you send this devil back to wreak havoc on us?"
Paul snorted coldly and rudely flung Bradley away, letting him fall backward toward the floor. Bradley's servants hurried forward and stopped the duke's head from hitting the ground in time.
"Duke, get this straight. He's the good son you raised yourself! With him behaving like this, shouldn't you be looking for the cause within yourself?"
