History

Founding and early development

Kaiyuan was formally founded by Su Qing in the Far West. Its legitimacy rested principally on Su Qing’s personal strength and political influence rather than ancestral grants or sectarian inheritance. Foreign envoys already treated the Far West as an Immortal Kingdom before the formal declaration, and neighboring states accepted Kaiyuan rather than risk opposing him. 520

During its first century, Kaiyuan mobilized public investment, Su’s Group funding, and loans from Bear Two’s Money House to exploit nearly every accessible mine within its borders. Only more than a dozen exceptionally dangerous mines—containing Tier 5 Great Evils, Ancient Demonic Evils, or unknown lethal hazards—remained untouched. 526

The resulting mineral supply supported cheap raw materials for Outer City factories. With Tool Puppets, labor from the Four Great Families, and expanding Hundred Arts production, Kaiyuan rapidly built an industrial base comparable to Wanghai Immortal City’s far older accumulation. 526

Rise to first-rate status

Kaiyuan hosted the Heroic Gathering, using the event to display its infrastructure, Puppet technology, commercial strength, and growing talent base to cultivators from across the Myriad Worlds. Su Qing’s personal performance in dozens of high-value events contributed more than two thousand points to Kaiyuan’s score. 529 534

The kingdom ultimately became one of the twelve recognized first-rate powers. Although its citizens initially considered first-rate status beyond reach, Kaiyuan’s performance established it as a major Western Sea power despite having existed for little more than a century. 564 566

Demonic war and expansion

During the large-scale Evil Demon offensive, Kaiyuan was one of the last major West Sea powers to avoid a large-scale invasion. Its spiritual veins, mineral reserves, Grotto-Heavens, Hundred Arts factories, and Eye of the Void made it a critical target. 620

When the Evil Demons attacked, Zhou Weidao directed Su Qing’s Puppet Legion through his divine sense. Golden Armor Beetle Puppets, Bomber Swarms, Grotto-Heaven true spirits, and layered Puppet defenses inflicted sufficient losses to force the enemy’s retreat. 621

The Jingshen Realm later chose to join Kaiyuan rather than remain exposed to pressure from the Myriad Worlds. Its arrival created the Jingshen District and supplied Kaiyuan with an established divine-weapon industry, abundant Puppets, specialized Puppet Masters, and Sacred Spirit Stone resources. 656 657 669

Expansion into the Myriad Worlds

Kaiyuan’s response to commercial suppression by the Primordial Beginning Sect and Eastern King Sect was the Tier 7 Lingxiao Palace Puppet. The Puppet gave Kaiyuan the ability to intervene militarily beyond Tianyuan and protect its interests across distant realms. 701 708

Kaiyuan subsequently led a coalition assault on the Evil Sword Realm. Its industrialized warfare—cheap Spirit Explosion shells, Self-Destructing Bee Swarms, Exorcism Missiles, and the Lingxiao Palace Puppet—cleared defenses that conventional cultivator forces could not afford to assault. 714

The joint Kaiyuan–Spirit Treasure Sect campaign destroyed the Evil Sword Realm, one of the Twelve Demonic Realms. The victory greatly increased Kaiyuan’s prestige and strengthened Su Qing’s claims to the Human Emperor and Heavenly Emperor thrones. 721 723

Government and Administration

Sovereign’s Residence Controls Kaiyuan’s armed forces and intelligence networks. Su Qing retains special founding-ruler powers, including one-vote veto and approval authority. 669
Council Hall Representatives of major forces meet every ten years to discuss state policy; it is theoretically Kaiyuan’s highest authority. 669
Commercial District Kaiyuan’s largest internal economic force, containing major trans-realm firms, Spirit House shops, factories, and trade infrastructure. 669 687
Cultivation District Home to the Taiyi Sect, Empress Wa Sect, and Hall of Martial Arts. The Hall of Martial Arts trains talent for every sector of the kingdom. 669

Jingshen District Formed after the Jingshen Realm’s integration; specializes in divine weapons, armaments, and Sacred Spirit Stone-related industry. 669

Economy and Industry

  • Hundred Arts policy — Kaiyuan values commerce and technical skill over raw combat strength, actively encouraging investment, factories, and independent businesses. 688
  • Puppet industry — Su’s Puppets are Kaiyuan’s flagship export and support an extensive upstream and downstream industrial chain. Their mass production distinguishes Kaiyuan from sects dependent on small, secretive workshops. 669 714
  • Commercial protections — Surveillance, Enforcement, and Security Puppets enforce policy and maintain a stable business environment. 688
  • Trade infrastructure — By its first century, more than one hundred cargo ships docked at Kaiyuan’s port daily; its maritime logistics and trade channels later made it a preferred location for outside powers establishing industries in Tianyuan. 526 549
  • Spirit House policy — Commercial District Spirit House shops are rented rather than sold. Demand eventually made one year’s rent comparable to the cost of a new shop. 687
  • Financial influence — Bear Two’s Money House participates in fiscal and monetary policy, including inflation control, employment stabilization, and support for high-tech Hundred Arts development. 669

Society and Policies

Kaiyuan identity

Su Qing promoted the principle that “those who came to Kaiyuan were Kaiyuan People.” The distinction between Far West natives and immigrant cultivators gradually weakened, and many former Far West residents came to identify primarily as Kaiyuan citizens. 529

Arts First

Kaiyuan’s “Arts First” policy recruits artisans, technical specialists, and entrepreneurs from the Myriad Worlds. The kingdom supports them in creating factories and businesses, simultaneously expanding Hundred Arts production and employment. 541

Sect and talent recruitment

  • Taiyi Sect — Relocated to Kaiyuan after Su Qing obtained the Yin-Yang Creation Saber and recognition from the Taiyi True Person’s will, making him Taiyi Sect Master. 526
  • Empress Wa Sect — Drawn to Kaiyuan through Su Qing’s Creation-related abilities and its belief that he may inherit part of Empress Wa’s legacy. 541
  • Witch Person Tribes — Receive mines, training, and economic support; their bond with Kaiyuan deepened after Su Qing manifested an Ancestral Witch phantom. 541 660
  • Deities — Kaiyuan recruits deities through its Temple District, though many struggle to find work because Puppets already occupy numerous roles. 529 696

  • Military commandSu Qing is the Heavenly Marshal and commander of Kaiyuan’s main forces. Qing He serves as Grand Marshal of the Seas after defeating Red Boy and forcing the Seven Sages Demon Country to pay reparations. 730 731
  • Hidden strength — During the Penglai conflict, Kaiyuan revealed a concealed force comparable to an innate Dao Integration Lord and the aura of a Tier 7 Dao Master. 743

Political Position

Kaiyuan became the de facto leader of Tianyuan’s local powers after repeatedly supporting them against Evil Demons, supplying Puppets and industry, and resisting pressure from the Myriad Worlds. Su Qing proposed the Tianyuan Alliance to coordinate free trade, technology sharing, and mutual support among Tianyuan powers. 692

Its rise has also provoked resistance from entrenched sects. The Primordial Beginning Sect and Eastern King Sect have used price wars, public-opinion campaigns, commercial channels, and political pressure to curb Kaiyuan’s expansion in the Myriad Worlds. 693 723

Despite its military strength, Kaiyuan’s lack of a publicly recognized living Tier 7 Dao Master initially limited the willingness of major sects to commit to it politically. The Lingxiao Palace Puppet could match top-level combat power, but other factions considered a living Dao Master necessary for long-term spiritual and institutional legitimacy. 724
