Background

Lin Fan was a college student in his previous life. After the original owner of his body—an orphan abducted by a Demoness—died from fright, Lin Fan transmigrated into the body and was forced into the Blood Demon Sect. Though designated an Outer Disciple, he quickly recognized that Blackwood Cliff's disciples were effectively expendable slaves tasked with transcribing books in the Hidden Scripture Pavilion. 1

Copying books revealed his greatest advantage: each completed text granted him lifespan. After acquiring the Basic Demonic Art, he discovered that his Pre-emptive Dao Fruit could consume this accumulated lifespan to grant him cultivation insights and technique proficiency. This allowed him to reach the Spirit Gathering Realm almost immediately. 3

He survived Blackwood Cliff by keeping his cultivation hidden, avoiding needless risks, and building only carefully chosen connections. He advanced to Formal Disciple status alongside Feng Ling and Wang Biao, then became a Blood Talisman Master under the notice of Master Ruan. Master Ruan eventually entrusted him with the Talisman Secret Method and the latter half of his personal legacy. 17 54 59

Lin Fan later rose to elder status on Blood Soul Peak, while concealing the breadth of his abilities and navigating the Blood Demon Sect's attempts to control him. After joining the Dark Blood Jiaolong Clan as Bloodlight Demon Saint's honored guest, Lin Fan became a central authority among powerful Demon Cultivators. He avoids situations where the risks outweigh the rewards, such as refusing to become closely involved with Feng Ling despite recognizing her attraction and usefulness. Despite his increasingly ruthless methods, he retains a conscience that he considers difficult to discard. He purchased medicine for Zhou Wanqing rather than treating her as an expendable cultivation resource, and he later stated that he would not coerce women or accept responsibility for relationships that did not develop naturally. 10 153

When threatened, however, Lin Fan acts decisively. He kills enemies who could expose him, uses Soul Searching on opponents for intelligence, and captured Xiao Fenghai to obtain access to the Nether Abyss Ruins. 34 97 350
