Background

Wuji Ghost Mother originated from the Ghost King Sect of the Upper Sect. She fled south after stealing the Divine Bone, an object whose divinity could counter the strange source connected to the Ghost King Sect's catastrophe. Her escape brought disaster upon the Li family; according to Kumuzi, every member except her perished 101 149.

Seeking to break through her realm, she cultivated the Ultimate Yin Ghost Body and brought both her body and Divine Soul near perfection. She stated that reaching this point required devouring vast numbers of living people 103. By the time she established herself in Great Jin's Imperial City, she had cultivated countless Ghostly Creatures and effectively controlled the imperial court through the new Jin Emperor 80 85.

Before her defeat, Wuji Ghost Mother was ruthless, suspicious, and highly possessive of the Divine Bone. She slaughtered cultivators and civilians in pursuit of it, yet panicked more over its theft than over losing her essence blood 87 99. Although Ghost Cultivators generally excel at stealth, infiltration, and assassination rather than open combat, she repeatedly forced direct battles when desperation overcame caution 100.

She is intelligent, persuasive, and adept at exploiting fear and self-interest. As Lin Fan's servant, she convinced Kumuzi to become a Soul Slave by appealing to his precarious position within the Ghost King Sect 149.

After becoming Lin Fan's Soul Slave, her attitude shifted into loyalty mixed with a desire for recognition and affection. She served him attentively, protected those under his care, and ultimately considered serving him the happiest part of her life 130 378 570.

Wuji Ghost Mother served as the source of Great Jin's Ghostly Creature crisis. The Great Wei royal family and Flowing Cloud Sword Sect launched a joint operation to eliminate her, using Gao Ya's former status as Great Jin's empress to infiltrate the palace 80 82.

She anticipated the invasion and set a trap in the imperial palace. During the battle, she fought a Flowing Cloud Sword Sect elder, was ambushed for two drops of vital blood, and clashed with the Blood Demon Sect Master's Blood Bone Corpse 85 87.

Hunt for the Divine Bone

After Lin Fan stole the brocade box containing the Divine Bone, Wuji Ghost Mother became increasingly desperate. She attacked the Blood Demon Sect and Demon Vein Desolate Land, interrogated Master Ruan, and traced the theft to Lin Fan 95 98.

Her assault on Qilian Marketplace devastated the area. She used Ghostly Creatures to devour souls and replenish herself, but suffered heavy losses and severe injury while being pursued by the Blood Demon Sect and Flowing Cloud Sword Sect 99 100.

Defeat and Enslavement

Wuji Ghost Mother cornered Lin Fan and demanded the Divine Bone's return. When negotiations failed, she attempted to seize his soul directly, but her weakened Divine Soul could not overcome Lin Fan's regenerative defenses and home-ground advantage within his Sea of Consciousness 101 102.

Lin Fan captured her soul, recovered the Kaiyuan Pill from her Divine Soul, and made her his Soul Slave. Without her physical body, she resided within Lin Fan's Sea of Consciousness and became a source of intelligence on the Ghost King Sect and the Divine Bone 102 103.

Artifact Spirit of the Wuji Sail

After assisting Lin Fan against Ghost King Sect enemies, Wuji Ghost Mother voluntarily became the Artifact Spirit of the Black Demon Sail. Her integration removed the sail's resistance to Lin Fan and transformed it into the Wuji Sail 162.

She subsequently commanded its Yin Spirits, hunted Ghost Kings and demons, and helped cultivate the sail into a Ghost Dao treasure 241 243 284 289.

Ghost Saint and Final Death

Through prolonged cultivation, Wuji Ghost Mother overcame the severe limitations imposed by losing her body and becoming an Artifact Spirit. She reached the Ghost Saint Realm, and Lin Fan rewarded her by making the Wuji Sail her natal artifact 511.

At Jiaolong Ridge, she was mortally wounded while attempting to protect Han Yan and Ao Mingyue from a bizarre creature. Her foundation burned away, she died in Lin Fan's arms, and Lin Fan swore vengeance for her death 570.
