The damp, bone-chilling wind kept lashing Young Master Little Arro's face. The violent jolting left him dizzy and disoriented, while the surroundings streamed backward. Kabir's anxious shouts rang in his ears:
"Lord Pahez, Lord Pahez..."
Young Master Little Arro hurriedly patted Kabir's shoulder. "Kabir, stop running!"
Kabir halted, then turned back in immense delight. "Young Master Little Arro, you're finally awake!"
"Put me down first."
Being carried upside down over someone's shoulder was not a pleasant feeling.
Once his feet finally touched solid ground, Young Master Little Arro took a deep breath and suppressed the strange sensation in his body. Turning his head, he asked, "Kabir, what happened to me just now?"
Kabir crouched down, smoothing out Young Master Little Arro's wrinkled clothes as he explained, "I saw you suddenly stop moving. No matter how I called you, you wouldn't respond. Then, a fructose-like fragrance even started coming from your body. I thought you'd encountered something strange, so I picked you up and ran, planning to find Lord Pahez."
Ignorance is Bliss!
For many strange occurrences, as long as no one was told about them, those strange things found it difficult to greatly affect people who knew nothing about them.
It was like certain persistent incidents ordinary people encountered. Their effects might not have been serious at first, but once someone searched for the root cause, they would discover—the problem at its source was even thornier, and might even result in widespread death and injury!
And the person who loved getting to the bottom of things, upon seeing the root problem, would basically be unable to escape death.
For that very reason, all wizards deliberately concealed certain matters.
But Kabir had been assigned as Young Master Little Arro's personal guard, so he naturally could not remain utterly ignorant of everything. Thus, a little had been revealed to him.
He had also been told that if anything abnormal appeared around Young Master Little Arro, he had to notify Pahez immediately.
"Next time, don't casually move my body. Just go find my Grandfather directly."
Fortunately, this time it had been a sprite. If it had been something else, his soul might have been fixed in place. Moving his body could have caused a disturbance to his soul, perhaps even putting his life in danger.
"Oh!" Kabir answered blankly.
Seeing Kabir's half-understanding expression, Young Master Little Arro could not help but sigh.
This was truly a contradiction!
If it were explained clearly, the influence of strange matters would grow stronger. Even as a Formal Knight, Kabir would not be enough to protect himself before all kinds of strange phenomena.
If it were not explained clearly, many strange incidents would be greatly weakened against them. Yet precisely because they did not understand, they often would not know why they had to act that way.
It was like a fierce tiger suddenly appearing. A guard might charge forward bravely and fearlessly, yet sometimes, that tiger might be the master the guard was meant to protect!
Young Master Little Arro sternly rebuked him, "You must remember this! If anything happens around me, you only need to report it. You don't need to do anything else useless!"
Noticing Kabir's dejection, Young Master Little Arro felt somewhat unwilling to be so harsh. Yet he could not state the reason plainly, so he could only force himself to turn away and stop looking at Kabir.
No wonder wizards stayed away from human habitation. The theory of 'Ignorance is Bliss' was simply too merciless!
Tell some people these things and let ordinary people guard against them themselves?
Many strange incidents had originally been caused by wizards exploring the unknown. If ordinary people truly learned of them, it might provoke intense conflict.
Besides.
Even if they knew, without sufficient Mental Strength, they would scarcely encounter abnormal incidents a few times in their entire lives. They would merely think they were insignificant ghost stories.
Even if they saw them, most would meet their end in death. Ordinary people simply could not guard against them.
But if one truly possessed sufficient Mental Strength, then whenever an abnormal incident appeared, they could swiftly detect it.
Such people could then learn all sorts of methods, thereby eliminating or defending against strange incidents.
These people shared one common name—Wizard Apprentices.
"You did very well. Don't let the Wish Sprite's final words affect you. No matter what kind of 'opportunity' it is, it is not something a child who has never learned any wizardry can lay hands on."
Pahez warned, "Little Arro, don't gamble your life on some vague and intangible 'opportunity.'"
Young Master Little Arro sat upright and nodded. "Grandfather, that is precisely what I thought."
A life lived over again was the greatest opportunity. He had not seen enough of this brand-new, unknown world yet. Before he possessed the ability to preserve his own life, Young Master Little Arro would only walk around any 'opportunity' covered in thorns.
That was why, when he tested whether it was a 'Wish Sprite,' the wish he made had been directly, 'Leave that place and return to reality'!
"Very good!"
Pahez nodded in satisfaction. Then, lowering his head, he fumbled about as he said, "Since your consciousness could be drawn into another world, it proves your Mental Strength has reached a certain level. There are some things I can let you see now."
"What things?"
Young Master Little Arro curiously craned his neck forward, only to see his Grandfather take out a framed scroll.
"This."
Pahez raised his head and explained with a smile, "I should have told you on your first day here, right? I had originally intended to let you see it when you turned six. I never expected that, at only five, you would already be able to come into contact with abnormal creatures."
After saying that, Pahez slowly unfurled the scroll.
The painting depicted an abnormally obese woman with a hooked nose. She wore hollowed golden clothing, a crown atop her head, and sat upright on a huge chair built from bones. Her face was painted a ghastly white, her blood-red lips split into an exaggerated grin, and with narrowed eyes, she sinisterly caressed an enormous jet-black eyeball.
Blue spiral patterns surrounded her. The entire painting appeared exceptionally eerie. After looking at it for only a moment, Young Master Little Arro felt dizzy and disoriented.
Pahez immediately rolled up the scroll and looked worriedly at Young Master Little Arro. "How do you feel? Can you adapt to it?"
The dizziness faded quickly. Young Master Little Arro shook his head and looked up to ask, "Grandfather, what was that just now? When I looked at it, I felt as though even my soul was about to be drawn inside."
Pahez stroked the scroll and explained, "This is an Evil God Scroll."
Rustle!
Young Master Little Arro abruptly stood, staring in shock at the scroll in his Grandfather's hands. "An Evil God?"
At this point, Young Master Little Arro understood many things.
Evil Gods, as the name implied, were the 'gods' worshipped by many ignorant commoners.
Aside from those that were entirely fabricated, regardless of their origins, these so-called 'gods' shared one common trait—they could easily influence people!
In other words, 'Evil Gods' could, to a certain extent, disregard the theory of 'Ignorance is Bliss'!
For anyone, they were the most harmful type of strange phenomenon. Once discovered, they had to be dealt with immediately!
Seeing Young Master Little Arro's expression, Pahez nodded in satisfaction. "You've learned well! But you needn't worry. This Evil God's true body was destroyed by a Formal Wizard long ago. This is merely a true-body scroll left behind by 'It.'"
Young Master Little Arro slowly sat back down and Frowned. "Many strange things can revive. Since the true body has already been destroyed, then it would be best to destroy every remnant related to 'It.'"
"Little Arro, if you wanted to climb over a wall but lacked the tools, and there was a long, slender venomous snake nearby, what would you do?"
"I can climb up with my bare hands!"
Young Master Little Arro looked at his stunned Grandfather and stood again. "What? Grandfather doesn't believe me? We can try right now. Grandfather, tell me what to climb!"
Hehe!
The houses here were all built from jagged boulders. Advanced Cat Form Fist—Fearless Tree Climbing!
"Is this about climbing walls?"
Pahez covered his forehead helplessly. "What I mean is, even a venomous snake can be used!"
Young Master Little Arro looked at the scroll in Pahez's hand and Shook His Head. "That snake is too venomous. I would rather not climb that wall!"
"Little Arro!"
Pahez put down the scroll and looked solemnly at Young Master Little Arro. "A wizard's cultivation is like a monkey leaping through a forest of vines. At the end of every vine lies a venomous snake, but we cannot simply give up climbing because there is a venomous snake at the end."
"Because when the venomous snake falls down, you will have nowhere to run."
"The Breakthrough Potions for countless wizards' bottlenecks first borrow the venomous snake's power. After breaking through, they then find a way to remove those powers."
"And now, countless monkeys have already leapt out of the vine forest along this path. This method is absolutely correct."
Upon hearing this, Young Master Little Arro's Eyebrows knitted tightly. "Is there no way to climb out with bare hands?"
By 'bare hands,' he meant not using these dangerous powers, but relying on his own efforts to possess great strength.
Young Master Little Arro thought of his Martial Arts System. This Martial Arts System was somewhat weak, but judging from all the fantasy stories of his previous life, the path of martial arts might not necessarily be impassable.
Pahez Shook His Head. "I understand what you mean. Knights are one of wizards' many test subjects. Even the various dangerous things in the world today may be experimental creations of certain wizards. But up to now, there has not yet been a truly successful precedent."
"Perhaps you may find a way to 'climb with bare hands' in the future, but before that, you must first possess a certain degree of strength."
"So—this venomous snake, you cannot avoid it!"
Pahez smiled at Young Master Little Arro. "Everyone believes they are different. I don't know whether you will succeed in the future, but I will not discourage you. Yet you must not refuse me, either."
Young Master Little Arro actually had little interest in blazing a trail. He would not always think about adding bricks and tiles to the great 'path of wizards.'
If he truly climbed past a venomous snake, he most likely would not turn back to search for a shortcut again.
He simply did not want to face danger.
Timid Arro truly lived up to his name!
"How do I use It?"
Since Pahez was so resolute, he presumably would not harm him. That meant the Evil God Scroll was not very dangerous, or its method of use was relatively safe.
"Look directly at It. Borrow Its Mental Pressure to temper yourself!"
