Background / History

Dugrabi is the son of the Flame Dragon King, one of Dragon Country's six Dragon Kings. While exploring the Endless Sea, he crossed a Remnant Abyss out of curiosity and became stranded in the Land of Finale. Unable to find a route home, he spent ten years alone in a snowy mountain range, surviving by hunting, sleeping, and waiting for the Aurora to reopen a passage home 66.

He encountered Ivette after pursuing Bingyu and mistaking Ivette for the Witch of Finale or a King of Evil Gods. Captured and intimidated by her strength, Dugrabi nevertheless introduced himself with the pride of a dragon prince. He provided Ivette with information that Rosalyn Shien was alive and secluded at the Academy of Truth, after which Ivette allowed him to accompany her 66 67.

During the journey to Kuks, Dugrabi accidentally damaged Ivette's RV with his dragon breath while helping Bingyu defeat a Stage Three Aberration. As repayment, Ivette made him tow the vehicle through the snow. Though humiliated by the task, he gradually came to regard Ivette as a source of safety after she protected the group from Mountain Whale swarms 68 69.

At the Puppet Kingdom, Dugrabi initially isolated himself from the Mechanical Puppets and pretended not to understand their language. Jasmine persistently befriended him, eventually becoming one of the few people he tolerated around him. His wish to become Ivette's disciple was delayed while she observed his character; when Mountain Whales threatened Jasmine and the other children, Dugrabi chose to leave safety and protect them 71 74.

Believing Jasmine had died, Dugrabi was consumed by regret and resolved to take magic study seriously. Ivette revealed that Jasmine was alive and that the incident had been a deliberately arranged lesson. Following this, Dugrabi formally began addressing Ivette as “Teacher” and committed himself to rune and spell training 75 76.

After gaining confidence from the Inferno Arts Grimoire, Dugrabi secretly entered Kuks and challenged Abera, the Spider Witch. His new spells injured her, but he was quickly defeated and nearly killed because he refused to reveal Ivette's location. Ivette rescued and healed him, reinforcing both his loyalty to her and his recognition of his own limits 80 81.

Dugrabi later traveled with Ivette, Bingyu, and Abera, continuing his Inferno Arts practice and sparring with Abera. Ivette ultimately gave him three AI-controlled magic tomes designed to support his growth as a mage 91 95.

When the Day of Ending began and Remnant Abysses opened across the sky, Dugrabi chose to return to Dragon Country despite Ivette's warning that he might be entering a world-scale battlefield. Before leaving, he entrusted Ivette with his True Dragon Name and vowed to become a legend like Rosalyn Shien 97.

Appearance

Dugrabi is a large black dragon whose intimidating appearance causes many Mechanical Puppets to mistake or fear him as a mutated creature.

  • Black-scaled draconic body and wings 67 82
  • Vertical pupils 97
  • Capable of flight through a combination of wings and innate wind-element magic 82
  • Often cultivates a deliberately fierce and silent “evil dragon” image around others 73 76

Personality

Dugrabi is intensely proud of his pure dragon bloodline and initially considers dragons equal to, or above, other races and minor deities. He is especially dismissive of Mechanical Puppets, whom he calls alchemical creations, and is easily offended by perceived slights to his dignity 66 73.

Despite his arrogance, he is cautious around genuinely unknown threats. His decade of isolation made him wary of Filth Demons and the Witch of Finale, and he submits when faced with Ivette's overwhelming power rather than recklessly provoking her 66 68.

He is naturally lazy and impatient with academic study, preferring ready-made combat spells over Rune Studies. However, guilt over Jasmine's supposed death and repeated failures in battle gradually make him more responsible, diligent, and aware of his weaknesses 75 77 80.

Beneath his hostile exterior, Dugrabi is protective and loyal. He risks himself for Jasmine and the other mechanical children, refuses to lead Abera back to the Puppet Kingdom, and ultimately returns to Dragon Country because he cannot ignore danger to his homeland 74 80 97.

Abilities & Skills

Dragon Physiology

As a pure-blooded dragon, Dugrabi possesses great physical resilience, dragon breath, natural mana growth, and an exceptionally long lifespan.

  • His mana naturally increases as he ages, even without deliberate training 71.
  • He can use dragon breath for warmth, combat, and burning materials 71 77.
  • His breath accidentally melted the RV's magic-power transmission structure 68.
  • Dragons can awaken Dragon Language Magic naturally as they mature 74.

Flight

Dugrabi can fly, though dragon flight relies partly on a wind-element spell embedded in draconic genes rather than wing power alone.

  • Carries passengers and mechanical children through the air 74 97.
  • Can rapidly travel between ruins, mountains, and Remnant Abysses 74 97.
  • Without magic power, dragons can only glide rather than truly fly 82.

Rune Studies and Inferno Arts

Ivette teaches Dugrabi Rune Recognition and combat magic, though he struggles with memorization and theoretical study.

  • Learns the simplified Scarlet Armor and Muscle Unlimit as Barrier Magic and Enhancement Magic 80.
  • Masters Flame Wave Bullet, a ranged fire spell 80.
  • Masters Ring of Blazing Flames, which can amplify Flame Wave Bullet when linked together 80.
  • Continues practicing and reciting the Inferno Arts Grimoire while traveling 91.

AI Magic Tomes

Ivette gives Dugrabi three AI-controlled magic books created to support his magical training.

  • The books can automatically cast spells under authorized control 95.
  • They enable prepared combinations and synergistic attacks without requiring Dugrabi to manually manage every spell interaction 95.
  • Their coordinated effects are described as comparable to forbidden spells 95.

Languages and Exploration

Dugrabi learns languages and takes a strong interest in the ruins of the Origin Civilization.

  • Learns Black Tide Language independently over several years, initially concealing this ability from most Puppets 73 76.
  • Speaks the Radiant Tongue with Ivette 67.
  • Explores military bases, mines, launch sites, and other ancient ruins with Jasmine and the mechanical children 74.

Equipment / Weapons / Items

  • Inferno Arts Grimoire copy — A copied version of Ivette's fire-element spell system, obtained with Bingyu's assistance 79 80.
  • Three AI-controlled magic books — Magical equipment prepared by Ivette for his training and combat use 95.
  • True Dragon Name — Entrusted to Ivette before his departure; its exact wording is not disclosed 97.

Relationships

  • Ivette — Teacher and protector. Dugrabi initially fears and resents her authority, but grows devoted to her instruction and entrusts her with his True Dragon Name 67 76 95 97.
  • Jasmine — Mechanical Puppet friend. Her apparent death causes Dugrabi profound guilt and becomes the turning point in his commitment to study 71 75 76.
  • Bingyu — Traveling companion. Dugrabi initially treats her rudely, but they later travel together and share a tearful farewell before his departure 79 97.
  • Abera — Former opponent and later sparring partner. Abera defeats him in Kuks, while Dugrabi remains suspicious of her after she joins Ivette's group 80 90 91.
  • Rosalyn Shien — Ivette identifies her as Dugrabi's senior; Dugrabi later vows to become a legend like her 77 97.
  • Flame Dragon King — Dugrabi's father and one of the strongest Dragon Kings of Dragon Country 66 74.
  • Kuks Family / Puppet Kingdom — Initially avoided by Dugrabi, but later regarded by him as family and defended during danger 71 86.

Story Role / Major Arcs

Stranded Dragon

Dugrabi is introduced as a lost young dragon whose curiosity leaves him trapped in the Land of Finale for ten years. His encounter with Ivette gives him both a protector and a possible path toward becoming a legendary mage 66 67.

Life in the Puppet Kingdom

He serves as Ivette's reluctant beast of burden, adapts to the Puppet Kingdom, and forms an unlikely friendship with Jasmine. His response to the Mountain Whale crisis proves that his pride does not outweigh his sense of responsibility 68 71 74.

Ivette's Disciple

After the Jasmine incident, Dugrabi becomes Ivette's student. His slow progress in Rune Studies leads Ivette to create the Inferno Arts Grimoire, a spell system better suited to his desire for direct combat magic 76 78 80.

Defeat by the Spider Witch

Overconfident after learning new spells, Dugrabi enters Kuks alone and challenges Abera. His defeat exposes the gap between his growing magical ability and true high-level combat power, while his refusal to betray Ivette demonstrates his loyalty 80 81.

Departure Through the Aurora

After receiving Ivette's AI magic tomes, Dugrabi gains far greater combat potential. When the Day of Ending opens the Remnant Abysses, he leaves to defend or return to Dragon Country, promising Ivette that he will become a legend 95 97.

  • He hid his ability to speak Black Tide Language for years in order to maintain his intimidating dragon persona 73 76.
  • Ivette privately compares Dugrabi to a pet dog, contrasting him with Rosaline, whom she considers a child she personally raised 98.
  • By the time Ivette later takes Lant as a disciple, Dugrabi is stated to be slightly over two hundred years old—still far from dragon adulthood at seven hundred years 141.
