Background

Tang San's memories originated in another world, where he was raised as an outer disciple of the Tang Sect. Denied access to inner-sect teachings, he stole the Mysterious Heaven Treasure Record at age nine, later mastered its techniques, and created the Buddha Rage Tang Lotus at age twenty-nine. When exposed for learning forbidden inner-sect arts, he jumped from a cliff; his soul subsequently arrived in Douluo Continent 308.

He possessed the body of Tang Hao and Ah Yin's infant son after the original child had stopped breathing during Spirit Hall's pursuit. His unusual childhood cultivation, mastery of unfamiliar techniques, and Hidden Weapon knowledge later caused Ah Yin to conclude that he was not her original son 200 308.

At Nuoding Academy, Tang San entered Seventh Dormitory as a work-study student. Confident in his Tang Sect training and Innate Full Soul Power, he challenged dorm leader Xiao Tian but was defeated when Xiao Tian's Sword Intent overwhelmed his Ghost Shadow Perplexing Track 3 4.

Appearance

Tang San was initially described as thin and ordinary-looking. After losing the Blue Silver Emperor bloodline, his features became rougher and increasingly resembled Tang Hao's 4 198.

  • Initially possessed an unremarkable, slender build 4.
  • Used the Twenty-Four Bridges Moonlight Night at his waist to store Hidden Weapons 21.
  • His appearance changed markedly during Ah Yin's bloodline extraction, leaving him almost identical to Tang Hao in appearance 198 246.
  • Manifested Eight Spider Lances from his back after acquiring External Soul Bones 209 210.

Personality

Tang San began with absolute confidence in his Tang Sect inheritance and treated the other academy children as beneath his experience. His early defeats by Xiao Tian damaged that composure, but rather than abandoning the rivalry, he repeatedly sought rematches and remained convinced he could eventually win 3 4 15 21.

He is ambitious, secretive, and highly status-conscious. He concealed the Clear Sky Hammer for as long as possible, pursued business ties to rebuild the Tang Sect, and used a friendly façade around Xiao Tian and Xiao Wu despite private suspicion and resentment 20 96 189.

Following the destruction of Blue Silver Grass, Tang San became increasingly desperate to regain power. He accepted soul rings far beyond conventional limits and argued that personally defeating—or torturing—Soul Beasts could improve his chances of obtaining Soul Bones 208 209.

Abilities & Skills

Blue Silver Grass — Lost

Tang San's first Martial Soul was Blue Silver Grass, whose true quality came from the Blue Silver Emperor bloodline inherited from Ah Yin. Once Ah Yin reclaimed that bloodline, the Martial Soul withered, shattered, and took all attached Soul Rings with it 199 206.

  • Blue Silver Entanglement — Creates binding vines armed with barbs and Mandala Snake paralytic toxin 15.
  • Parasitism — Causes Blue Silver Grass seeds attached to a target to take root and grow 149.
  • Spider Web Restraint — Launches a venomous web carrying Man-Faced Demon Spider poison 149.
  • Mother's Entanglement — A stronger mass-binding application used during his sparring with Xiao Tian 21.
  • Its vines were repeatedly cut apart by Xiao Tian's Sword Intent, exposing the Martial Soul's poor direct combat performance against superior cutting power 16 21.

Clear Sky Hammer

Tang San's second Martial Soul is the Clear Sky Hammer, initially concealed because its existence could expose his connection to Tang Hao and the Clear Sky Sect. After Blue Silver Grass was destroyed, it became his sole Martial Soul 149 205.

  • Titan Hammer — First Clear Sky Hammer skill, acquired from a Great Strength Gorilla; increases hammer attack power, though it is weaker than the original hundred-thousand-year version 208.
  • Second Soul Skill — A Heavy Armor Beetle King-derived single-target attack that ignores physical defense 209.
  • Whirlwind Frenzy — Rapidly swings the hammer to strike in every direction 209.
  • Brilliant Explosion — Area attack with poison and paralysis effects 209.
  • Thousand Jun Barrier — Defensive fifth skill from the Thousand Jun Ant Emperor 210.
  • His accelerated ring configuration strengthened him quickly but overdrew his future potential compared with cultivating the hammer at a later stage 202.

Tang Sect Secret Techniques

Tang San retained the techniques recorded in the stolen Mysterious Heaven Treasure Record from his former life 308.

  • Mysterious Heaven Skill — Internal cultivation method that helped reawaken the bloodlines in his new body and contributed to his Innate Full Soul Power 256.
  • Ghost Shadow Perplexing Track — Evasive footwork used to close distance, evade attacks, and reposition in combat 3 149.
  • Mysterious Jade Hand — Hardens and empowers his hands for weapon handling and close-quarters combat 13 149.
  • Purple Demon Eye — Visual technique used to track opponents, see through illusions, and improve perception; later reached the Mustard Seed Realm 16 189 208.
  • Controlling Crane Capturing Dragon — A Tang Sect manipulation technique retained after Blue Silver Grass was lost 209.
  • Disorder Splitting Wind Hammer — A Clear Sky Sect hammer technique used to destroy opposing attacks through repeated swings 232.

Hidden Weapon Craft and Deployment

Tang San manufactures and employs concealed mechanical weapons, combining them with his movement techniques, poison knowledge, and Purple Demon Eye 21 96.

  • Can launch silver needles, daggers, Sleeve Arrows, and other weapons from multiple angles at high speed 21.
  • Uses poisoned projectiles, including Dragon Beard Needles, to penetrate Soul Power defenses 38 149.
  • Developed and sold the Godly Zhuge Crossbow, claiming it could threaten Soul Ancestor-level opponents 96.
  • Planned to establish the Tang Sect and pursue materials for the Peacock Plume, Pear Blossom Rain Needles, and Buddha Rage Tang Lotus 189.
  • Chen Xin judged most of Tang San's simpler Hidden Weapons to have limited value against higher-ranked Soul Masters 96.

External Soul Bone: Eight Spider Lances

Tang San acquired the Eight Spider Lances twice.

  • His first set came from a Man-Faced Demon Spider after becoming a Soul Elder; it was later torn away by Er Ming 27 208.
  • A second set came from the 50,000-year Human-Faced Spider Queen and granted major physical enhancement, venom, and offensive reach 209 261.
  • The second set was forcibly removed during the Soul Master Tournament confrontation, leaving Tang San unable to use its poison-laced fragments afterward 261 262.

Equipment / Weapons / Items

  • Twenty-Four Bridges Moonlight Night — Storage Soul Tool used to conceal and rapidly draw weapons 21 149.
  • Godly Zhuge Crossbow — Repeating crossbow sold to the Seven Treasure Glazed Tile Sect; Tang San attempted to make it the foundation of his Tang Sect enterprise 96 110.
  • Silent Sleeve Arrow — Concealed projectile weapon judged to have practical value by Xiao Tian 96.
  • Sand Hidden Arrow — Concealed projectile weapon considered commercially useful 96.
  • Dragon Beard Needle — Fine golden needle used to pierce protective Soul Power 38 149.
  • Poisoned Hidden Weapons — A large personal arsenal of needles, arrows, daggers, and crossbows treated with lethal toxins 149.

Relationships

  • Tang Hao — Father and protector. Tang Hao secretly watched over Tang San, intervened when Shi Nian attempted to kill him, and later supervised Tang San's dangerous Clear Sky Hammer ring hunt 189 209. Despite doubting whether Tang San was truly his son, Tang Hao continued to value him as a means of revenge against Spirit Hall and restoration of the Clear Sky Sect 200 205.
  • Ah Yin — Biological mother of the body Tang San inhabits. She initially appeared to offer a bloodline awakening, then reclaimed the Blue Silver Emperor bloodline and rejected him as her son 198 199 200.
  • Xiao Tian — Primary rival. Xiao Tian defeated Tang San repeatedly from their first dormitory challenge onward, undermined his confidence and business ambitions, and ultimately killed him 3 16 174 308.
  • Xiao Wu — Tang San held special feelings for her and asked her to become his little sister, but she rejected him. He later learned she was a hundred-thousand-year transformed Soul Beast and that her affection was directed toward Xiao Tian 20 187.
  • Yu Xiaogang — Teacher and mentor. Yu Xiaogang accepted Tang San as his sole direct disciple, advised him to prioritize foundational Soul Power, and developed the Seven-in-One Fusion tactic around his ringless Clear Sky Hammer 10 50 191.
  • Tang Chen — Clear Sky Sect elder who named Tang San Young Sect Master and intended to teach him the sect's secret arts 280. Tang Chen later learned Tang San was not his biological great-grandson and took his own life 308.
  • Chen Xin — Potential business partner through the Seven Treasure Glazed Tile Sect. Tang San sought Chen Xin's support for his Hidden Weapons, but Chen Xin kept negotiations strictly transactional 96 110.

Story Role

Nuoding Academy Rivalry

Tang San entered Seventh Dormitory convinced that Tang Sect methods made him untouchable among children, but Xiao Tian defeated him with Sword Intent. He challenged Xiao Tian again after obtaining his first ring, yet was again beaten despite using Blue Silver Grass, Tang Sect techniques, and Hidden Weapons 3 15 16 21.

Shrek Academy and the Hidden Weapon Venture

At Shrek Academy, Tang San fought alongside Xiao Tian during Zhao Wuji's entrance test and used Dragon Beard Needles against the examiner 38. He later attempted to turn Hidden Weapons into political and commercial influence by selling Godly Zhuge Crossbows to the Seven Treasure Glazed Tile Sect, but Xiao Tian later reverse-engineered the weapon and moved to undercut his business 96 110 174.

Loss of Blue Silver Grass

Tang Hao brought Tang San to the Blue Silver Ancestral Land so Ah Yin could supposedly awaken his bloodline and give him the Blue Silver Emperor Right Leg Bone. Instead, Ah Yin extracted his bloodline, destroyed Blue Silver Grass and its Soul Rings, and reduced him to Rank 10 187 198 199.

Clear Sky Hammer Rebuild

Refusing to abandon his ambition of defeating Xiao Tian, Tang San rebuilt around the Clear Sky Hammer. Under Tang Hao's protection, he obtained five exceptionally high-year rings in rapid succession, reached Level 57, and gained a second Eight Spider Lances Soul Bone 208 209 210.

Clear Sky Sect and Death

Tang Chen named Tang San Young Sect Master and prepared him for the City of Slaughter and Asura God Trial 280. During Xiao Tian's destruction of the Clear Sky Sect, Tang San's own Hidden Weapons were turned against his allies; after attempting to flee, he was killed by Sword Qi. His exposed memories confirmed his former-life identity and possession of the original Tang San's body 308.
