Seeing humans appear before it, the Undead Great Serpent opened its mouth, densely lined with bone spikes, and let out a low growl. Then, like a fountain, it spat out a stream of foul-smelling black liquid.

Fergus and the others were all equipped with Energy Shields, specifically the fourth-generation Perfect Grade Energy Shields improved by Cang Yun, the Magic Pattern Research Institute's newly promoted Master Level Magic Pattern Construct Master.

The foul black liquid was effortlessly stopped by the fourth-generation Energy Shields, causing no harm to Fergus and the others.

However, the plant bridge that his Thorn Deer had laid out for them could not be protected by the Energy Shields.

Wherever the liquid splashed, every plant instantly withered and died.

The plant bridge instantly turned into pitch-black rotten wood. Unable to bear Fergus and the others' weight any longer, it rapidly collapsed, giving off an even more pungent stench.

Fergus and the others could only jump from the bridge and drive their Thorn Deer toward the Undead Great Serpent.

The Undead Great Serpent's intelligence seemed rather poor. Its venomous breath clearly could not harm Fergus and the others, yet it continued making retching noises and spitting out the venom accumulated in its belly.

For a time, the dense forest reeked to high heaven. Protected by their Energy Shields, Fergus and the others were largely unaffected.

The undead charging toward them, however, suffered terribly. Whether skeleton soldiers or undead knights, the moment they were splashed by the black liquid, their bodies seemed to develop osteoporosis. After taking a few steps, they shattered into pieces across the ground.

Only when Fergus charged up to it did the Undead Great Serpent stop spitting. It opened its ghastly maw and bit toward the leading Fergus.
