Background / History

Jia Yi was among the original members of the Weigang Cultivation Alliance. After the group was stained by the blood of the ancient divine beast Kun, he identified their new abilities as Divine Powers. His own immediate change was an extreme appetite, which later proved tied to the expenditure and recovery of his Qi Refining power 72 76.

When his identity was exposed in the present world, Jia Yi remained abroad rather than return to China. Within a month, he established a successful business in Japan, increased his wealth more than tenfold, cultivated political and criminal connections, and attempted to recruit Fang Xiu and Qingyang Wanderer to join him there 103.

During his time in the Mountain Sea World, Jia Yi fought beside Qing Yang and Zhu Liu in the campaigns that helped establish the Great Huan’s power. He was granted the title of Jia Country Bo, but later relinquished both his fiefdom and noble identity. He travelled north, established Spirit Pivot Mountain in a spiritually rich mountain range, accepted disciples, and founded the Qi Refiner lineage 158.

Appearance

Jia Yi was initially distinguished by his conspicuously large belly, which remained unchanged despite the physical improvements brought by cultivation. In later years, he commonly wore Daoist robes, including a Five Elements Bagua Daoist robe; after transcending calamities, his body emitted natural divine light 76 178 377 441.

Personality

Jia Yi is outspoken, humorous, and easily provoked. He joked about the group resembling the Calabash Brothers, but reacted angrily when Qingyang Wanderer mocked him as a “fake Qi Refiner” 72 178. His early behavior also reflected his merchant instincts: he pursued business expansion, valued incense wealth over ordinary money, and readily considered how cultivation could create profit 84 103 198.

He is proud of the Qi Refiner path and dismissive of cultivation methods he considers heretical, yet he actively seeks knowledge from other cultivators. He eagerly questioned Fang Xiu about Fourth Order inheritances, invited discussion of his Tier-5 method, and shared its underlying principles with other high-level cultivators to identify flaws in his own path 227 296 335.

Despite his arrogance, Jia Yi remains attached to old friends and shared history. He mourned Zhu Liu’s death, sought vengeance against Si Qiong Mountain Mountain God Bai, attempted to aid Fang Xiu during an Immortal Tribulation, and expressed relief upon learning that Qing Yang had reincarnated 352 377 400.

Rise of the Qi Refiner

Jia Yi developed from a newly awakened Divine Power user into one of the Weigang Cultivation Alliance’s foremost cultivators. He cultivated Qi Refining techniques, helped plan the alliance’s future, and became known for his unusual need to consume food after using spiritual power 73 76.

East Dragon Cauldron Conflict

After Zhu Liu’s death, Jia Yi came into possession of the East Dragon Cauldron. On returning to the present world, he was hunted by cultivators and international forces seeking the furnace. Though he fought through the siege with Spirit Sha Qi and spells, Qing Yun ultimately wounded him, forcing Jia Yi to flee into the sea while the cauldron was lost to competing forces 133.

Founding Spirit Pivot Mountain

Jia Yi renounced his title as Jia Country Bo and founded Spirit Pivot Mountain in the north, where he spread the Qi Refiner lineage. The sect eventually grew into a major cultivation force with hundreds of disciples and thousands of outer disciples, attendants, and laborers 158 198.

Third Order and the Five Elements Path

Jia Yi’s Five Elements Evil Qi Pill made him the first known Third Order extraordinary individual in the present world. He later pursued the Fourth Order inheritance in the Mountain Sea World, formulated the Five Elements Earth Vein Refining Spirit Art, and successfully entered Tier 5 223 227 352.

Vengeance at the Divine Palace

After recovering and refining the East Dragon Cauldron, Jia Yi gave it to Zhang Heming and requested the death of Si Qiong Mountain Mountain God Bai. His motive was Zhu Liu’s death during the destruction of Xuanyuan Country, when the Xuanyuan Great Priest awakened the ancient Mountain God 377.

Immortal Tribulations

Jia Yi witnessed Fang Xiu’s Immortal Tribulation and nearly became entangled in it after using the East Dragon Cauldron against the Longevity Fire. The experience deepened his understanding of the Heavenly Immortal Dao. He subsequently entered seclusion, passed the Three Calamities, erased his name from the Book of Life and Death, and became a Land True Immortal 400 405 441 463.

Recruiting Immortal Envoy

Following his ascension, Jia Yi was appointed by the Heavenly Court as Recruiting Immortal Envoy. He was tasked with identifying the reincarnated Ancient Immortals and Gods, appointing three hundred and sixty-five Star Lord positions, and establishing the Great Zhou Celestial Stars Formation in the East Continent 516 517 518.

To remain impartial during the Star Lord Tribulation, Jia Yi moved Spirit Pivot Mountain and its lineage overseas. He then spent more than ten years travelling across the East Continent, Yi Kingdoms, and northern Rong tribes to identify every reincarnated bearer of a Star Fate and calculate the beginning of the Killing Tribulation 520.
